Francis Allen Burditt

Burditt, Francis Allen

Francis Allen Burditt, Jr., 76, was born July 3, 1933 in Robstown, Texas to F. Allen Burditt and Kathrine Parr Burditt and passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Burditt of Lockhart, Texas and Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Parr of Lockhart and Robstown, Texas, a sister, Betty Lou Burditt, and in 1987 his wife of 33 years, Judy Rambo Burditt.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Sidney (Kathy) Otahal and Mrs. Ed (Brandy) Shores; three grandsons, Timothy Allen Otahal, Ross Burditt Shores and Jack Burditt Shores; and one granddaughter, Kathrine Cecilia Otahal; favorite cousin, Lee Parr Phipps.

Allen graduated from Robstown High School in 1950 and attended Texas A&M and S.W.T.S.T.C.

He was a retired farmer, a life long resident of Robstown, Texas and member of First United Methodist Church.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Robstown with Pastor Barbara Dyke officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. L. A. “Larry” Stone, Roger Ross Butler, George Wayne Paschal, Cecil Wright, Bill Harwell and David Hoffstadt.

Among his close friends were the late J. E. “Corky” Thompson, Bennett Hefte and Bob Milstead.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to the First United Methodist Church in Robstown or to their favorite charity.

J.R. “Cotton” Atkinson

J. R. “Cotton” Atkinson, 85, a three year resident of Cleveland, Texas, and a former longtime resident of Calallen, Texas, passed away in Cleveland on Tuesday, February 23, 2010.

He is survived by his daughter, Carole (David) Martin; a grandson, Allen (Nadine) Erigan; a great granddaughter, Paige Erigan all of Cleveland, Texas; a brother, Charles Atkinson of Odem, Texas; sisters, Geraldine Miller and Alta Ruth Roberson of Calallen, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until service time at 2 P.M. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.   Services will conclude in the chapel.

Darrell Whiteley

Whiteley, Darrell

Darrell Whiteley, 74, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 in a Corpus Christi hospital.  He was born June 11, 1935 in Aransas Pass, Texas to William Roy and Wilma Rae Fletcher Whiteley. Darrell was a member of First Baptist Church in Odem.  He retired from Koch Refinery after 38 years of service and was a farmer.  He was a lifetime supporter of the Odem Owls.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Debbie Whiteley Lindermanis.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Whiteley of Odem, Texas; his son, Bill Whiteley of Dallas, Texas; his grandchildren, Ryan Bellows and his wife Julie of Dallas, Texas and Fletcher Whiteley of College Station, Texas.

Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Willis Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Odem, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Sanchez, Tommy Sanchez, David Doria, Jessie Doria, Stanley Webb, Danny Beyer, Ronnie Setliff and Robert Whatley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Fleming, James F. Price, E.M. Wood, Kenneth Shackleford and Sid Brough.

Hall Loarn Pusley

Pusley, Hall

Hall Loarn Pusley, 78, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 at his home.  He was born January 14, 1932 in Gerty, Oklahoma to William Wiley and Ella Viola Brooks Pusley.  Mr. Pusley graduated from Tuloso-Midway High School in 1949 with honors and was a drill sergeant in the U. S. Marine Corp during the Korean War.  He retired from Koch Refinery, enjoyed the outdoors, horses and trail riding.

He is survived by his sons, Mark Pusley of Rush, Kentucky and Dwayne (Teresa) Pusley of LaPorte, Texas; his sister, Gloria Sanders of Houston, Texas; his brothers, Jim Pusley of Mathis, Texas and Paul “Butch” Pusley of Leander, Texas; two grandsons, Colin and Justin Pusley; a great grandchild, Jenalynn Pusley; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 8 P.M. Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Monday, February 22, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Simmons officiating.  Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Chance Lynch, Justin Pusley, Lance Pusley, Hamp Clubb, Jay Edminston and Gene Lynch.

Steven Hajek

Hajek, Steven

Steven Hajek, age 62, of Sandia, Texas passed away February 14, 2010 after battling cancer.  Steven was born July 29, 1947 in Flatonia, Texas to Emil and Stella Hajek.

He was retired from KJ A/C and served in the United States Marine Corp in Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Edward Hajek, Joe Hajek, Mary Taylor, Frank Hajek and Theresa Talley.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta Hajek; son, Steven Hajek, Jr. (Dana) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter, Wanda Cutsinger (Kevin) of Liberty Hill, Texas; six grandchildren; sisters, Dody Garrison (Sam), Pat Nesrsta (Woody), Emily Hajek, Edie Wilson (Orville).

A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Memorial Services will be conducted on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bevans Welder officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Lighthouse Hospice, 201 S. Carancahua, Suite 301, Corpus Christi, Texas 78401.
