Louis Floyd Gallet

Gallet, Louis

Louis “Floyd” Gallet passed away at his home in Robstown, Texas on March 24, 2010 at the age of 82 with his family at his bedside.

He was born in Maurice, Louisiana on August 17, 1927 to Albert and Helen Simon Gallet.  Floyd served in the U. S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Cameron Bowers and a brother, Lauris B. Gallet.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Edith B. Gallet; son, Louis Floyd Gallet, Jr. (Pam) of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter, Patricia Ann Brand (Richard) of Bishop, Texas; grandchildren, Chris Gallet (Lisa), Jana Dawn Gallet of Corpus Christi, Texas, Conrad Bowers (Erin) of San Antonio, Texas; seven great grandchildren; brother, John Gallet (Wanda) of Orange, Texas.

The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses, and Nurses on Wheels Hospice for the loving care they gave our loved one.  Also, the family wishes to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the members of River Hills Baptist Church for their prayers and support.

Memorial Services will be conducted on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Thornton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the River Hills Baptist Church Building Fund, Nurses on Wheels Hospice or the Corpus Christi Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Helen R. Havrda

Havrda, Helen

Helen Rose Havrda, 74, passed away suddenly on March 24, 2010 in a Beeville hospital.

Helen was born March 12, 1939 in Moravia, Texas and was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Mary Havrda.

Helen resided at the Mathis Nursing Center.

Helen is survived by two brothers, Charlie (Lora) Havrda, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas and Dennis (Kathy) Havrda of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Mildred (Larry) Orsak of Mathis, Texas and Mary Ann Firasek of Schulenburg, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Sawyer George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas.

A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 26, 2010 at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church, 3901 Violet Rd., Corpus Christi, Texas followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Morgan Rowsome.

Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Craig Havrda, Lawrence “Buddy” Orsak, Sean Orsak, Juan Jimenez, Billy Whitehead, and Mike Oelschlegel.

Helen was an angel on earth, and now she is one of God’s Heavenly Angels.  She will be missed.

Larry Brandt Holland

Larry Brandt Holland, age 65, of Robstown, Texas passed away March 22, 2010 in Houston, Texas after a long battle with Leukemia.  He was born November 27, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas to Oma Otis and Bernice Tally Holland.

He was a member of the Men’s Club of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church.  Larry worked at Boyd Campbell in Corpus Christi for many, many years.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Patsy Prochaska Holland; son, Lt. Col. Aaron Brandt Holland (Sarah); daughter, Leigh-Anne Holland; step-daughters, Jennifer Kenner (Andrew) and Melissa Brownawell  (Jeff); step-sons, Matt Paschal (Linda) and Robert Paschal; grandchildren, Adam Holland, Sam Holland, Noah Kenner, Rachel Kenner, Holden Paschal and Mason Paschal; sisters, Ginger Rogers and Cathy Lewis (Robert); numerous nephews and nieces.

Larry will be sadly  missed by his family and many friends.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas with Rev. Tom Showalter as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Robstown Memorial Park.

Claude Logan Wiegmann

Weigmann, Claude

Claude Logan Wiegmann, 85, of Houston, Texas, and a former longtime resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010.  He was born October 10, 1924, in Weesatche, Texas, Goliad County, to Fritz and Rosalie (Fromme) Wiegmann.

Claude was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Hyacinth Berryhill Wiegmann and his second wife, Maizelle Currans Wiegmann.

Claude served in the United States Marine Corps and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and was a long time member of St. John Lutheran Church of Robstown, TX.  He was employed by Missouri-Pacific Railroad for 40 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Nerina Lyons of Sugar Land, TX; his sister, Jane (Frank) Reuter of Victoria, TX; his step-children, Christine (Jerry) Grimes of Houston, TX, James (Julie) Currans of Beaver Lake, NE, Michael Currans of Bay City, TX; and his grandson, Hal (Monica) Bingham of Las Vegas, NV; many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 7 P.M. with the family present from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Thursday, March 25, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Church between Five Points and Robstown next to U. S. Highway 77.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family are requested to make donations to St. John Lutheran Church.

Joyce Phillips

Phillips, Joyce

Joyce Phillips, age 83, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away March 10, 2010.  She was born September 18, 1926 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Charles Adolph and Winnie Susan Schindler.

She was employed with Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Tasch in Taft, Texas and worked for many years at Sure-Grow Fertilizer Company in Taft, Texas.

She enjoyed the last years of her life with her friends at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostle’s Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son William Jackson “Bill” Phillips.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Littlejohn of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother, Charles Joseph Schindler of Portland, Texas; sister, Barbara Wendland of Corpus Christi, Texas; granddaughter, Cassie Littlejohn.

Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostle’s Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostle’s Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Morgan Rowsome as celebrant.

Interment will be conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, March 12, 2010 in the Taft Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Larry Svadlenak, John Mayo, Holden Mayo, Steve McNeil, Colton McNeil and Jayson Peterson.
