Jalmer Ray “Doc” Calloway

Jalmer Ray “Doc” Calloway, 77, of Corpus Christi, Texas went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2010.  He was born in Sandia, Texas on April 20, 1932.  Mr. Calloway graduated from Robstown High School, attended Texas A&I College and then joined the U.S. Navy.  After his Navy service he worked for Koch Refinery for 38 years before he retired.  He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the Calallen Lions Club, assisted with the Boy Scout Troop #73 and the Oil Belt Little League.  He assisted in organizing the reunion for the Sea Bees for four years (MCB4), enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard work, helping neighbors and relaxing at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Colie E. and Gladys Beam Calloway; his sister, Edna McElyea; and his brother, J. C. Burt.

He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Fern Calloway of Corpus Christi, Texas; his sons, Ray Calloway (Cecelia) and Garland Calloway (Dawne Mundahl) all of Corpus Christi, Texas; four grandchildren, Bryan and Justin Calloway, Sarah Prince (Jake) and Vanessa Kelly (Brad); four great grandsons, Logan Calloway, Gavin and Ian Kelly and Hunter Prince; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dick and Barbara Dietzmann and Helen Burt; aunt, Nancy Barnhart; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until 7 P.M. with the family present from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church beside Highway 77 between Robstown and Five Points with Pastor Jeffrey Thompson officiating.  Burial will follow at Robstown Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Calloway, Justin Calloway, Cary Dietzmann, Brian Dietzmann, Jake Prince and Brad Kelly.

Honorary Pallbearers will be George Guckian, Joe Fears, Pete Zickefoose, Bob Dunlavy, Bob McKinley, George Fair, George Conde, Dwight Littlejohn, David Krebs and Lee Kitchens.

Lance Andrew Taylor

Taylor LanceLance Andrew Taylor, age 38, of Corpus Christi, Texas was taken suddenly on April 13, 2010.

Lance was born April 12, 1972 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Forest and Cathy Taylor.

He was a 1990 graduate of Calallen High School and was employed by Quality Energy.

He leaves behind his wife, Amanda Doyle Taylor and their three children, Erin, Trace and Cullen; his parents, Forest and Cathy Taylor; brother, Charley (Amy) Taylor; nephews, Clint,  Christopher and Mark; niece, Kirsten.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 16, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert Simmons officiating.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Archie Dicky

Archie Dicky, 71, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at a Corpus Christi hospital. He was born in Kosse, Texas on October 25, 1938 to H.O. Dicky and Rosa M. Amos. He lived his early years in Lott, Texas, later moved to California and returned to Texas to live in Waco and Calvert where he graduated from high school in 1957. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy. Following his service in the Navy, he returned to Texas and began a career in law enforcement which included the Bryan Police Department, College Station Police Department and Brazos County Sherriff’s office. After leaving law enforcement, he married Bennie Faulk and moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where he was employed by H.E.B. He loved working outside and spending time with his dog, Chase.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bennie J. Dicky; grandparents, Alphonsie and Lena Davis; father, H.O. Dicky; step-father, Cannon Amos; mother, Rosa M. Amos; son, David Dicky; granddaughter, Alex Dicky.

He is survived by his sons, Wayne Dicky and Alan Dicky of Bryan, Texas;

step-children, Kary Jo Thigpen (Kirk) of Willis, Texas, David Dohmann (Carol) of Goliad, Texas and Kurt Dohmann (Gail) of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Wayne Dicky II of Bryan and Michael Dicky of Montgomery, Alabama; brothers, Rodney W. Amos (Rita) of Hearne, Texas, Cannon Ray Amos (Debra) of College Station, Texas, Ricky Lynn Amos; sister, Connie Ricks of College Station, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many good friends and neighbors.

Visitation with the family present will be from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Friday, April 16, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jack Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Hospice, or the Salvation Army.

Ellen Mae Talley

Ellen Mae Talley, age 80, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away April 11, 2010.  She was born July 26, 1929 in Young County, Texas to Orville and Clara Smith Green.

Mrs. Talley worked at several Chevrolet dealerships in Corpus Christi, Texas from 1949 until 1987.  She was a Past-President of B & PW, was a member Christian Women, was a former secretary at Grace United Methodist Church and a faithful volunteer with many organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Barney A. Green and Johnny R. Green.

She is survived by her husband of 60 plus years, Marvin Kenneth Talley of Corpus Christi, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. John Wright officiating.

Interment will be in Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Memorial Fund of Grace United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.

Jimmie Clay Mohrmann

Jimmie Clay Mohrmann, 69, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010.  He was born March 11, 1941 in Flat, Texas to Harry “Pop” Mohrmann, Jr. and Nona Mae Brown Mohrmann.  Jimmie graduated from Odem High School in 1960 and was an avid Odem Owls fan.  He was employed at J. I. Hailey, Inc. and was a member of First Baptist Church in Odem.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his sister and her husband, Rae Jean and Casey DuBose of Rosenberg, Texas; his nieces, Darla Dian Hodgkiss (Mark) of Beeville, Texas and Dixie Deann Skinner (Paul) of Manassas, Virginia; grand niece, Leah Hodgkiss; great nephew, John Anthony Skinner; uncle, Gene Brown of Katy, Texas; four cousins.

Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with his brother-in-law, Anthony “Casey” DuBose officiating.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Odem, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Brown, Paul Skinner, Mark Hodgkiss, Ronnie Guzman, Billy Hanstrom and William Ray Scull.
