Mildred Doris Cowan Vollmering

Mildred Doris Cowan Vollmering, 89, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Friday, August 27, 2010.  She was born September 11, 1920 in Eastland, Texas to Joseph Howard and Hattie Elizabeth Miller Cowan.  Mrs. Vollmering lived in Jim Hogg and Zapata Counties for most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Christian F. Vollmering on December 3, 2004.

She is survived by her three children, Gary (Sue Jo) Vollmering, Sidney (Sherri) Vollmering and Sandra (Fred) Orum; her grandchildren, Kathy (Walter) Nickel, Barbara Vollmering, Todd Vollmering, Courtney (Jeff) Blankinship, Jason (Susan) Vollmering, Craig (Christina) Lancaster, Sheryl (Tim) McBride; her great grandchildren, David Nickel, Jonathon Nickel, Bethany Nickel, Amanda Vollmering, Miles Serman, Dawson Blankinship, Pierce Blankinship, Stephanie Vollmering, Skylar Vollmering, Jaycee Vollmering, Cammarie Lancaster, Collin Lancaster, and Natalie (Marcus) Lomax; two great-great grandchildren, Marcus Lomax, II and NaTae’ Lomax.

Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 5 P.M. Sunday, August 29, 2010 and from 10 A.M. until service time on Monday, August 30, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 P.M. Monday, August 30, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with H. D. Simmons officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Green Hill Cemetery in Hebbronville, Texas.

Joyce Guerrero

Joyce Guerrero, 52, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 at her home after a long illness.  She was born June 12, 1958 in Corpus Christi, Texas, lived here many years, in Galveston for 20 years and recently moved back to Corpus Christi.  Joyce was employed by Texas A&M University Corpus Christi in the Gear Up Program, where she took pride in mentoring children that were struggling to complete their education.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Vera.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Robert Guerrero of Corpus Christi; her daughter, Yvette (George) Schmidt of Houston, Texas; her sons, Robert (Jillie) Guerrero of League City, Texas and Matthew Guerrero of Corpus Christi, Texas; her mother, Minerva Vera of Corpus Christi, Texas; her sister, Joann Claus of Corpus Christi, Texas; her brothers, Paul Vera of Corpus Christi, Texas and Phillip (Naomie) Vera of Germany; and many thanks to her mother-in-law, Rosa Guerrero and all of her family for the help and support they provided.

Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 8 P.M. Sunday, August 29, 2010 with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Monday, August 30, 2010 at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church on Violet Road.  Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Pattie Hillyer Hoeber

Pattie Hillyer Hoeber went peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 25, 2010.

She was a longtime member of South Bluff United Methodist Church and was an active member of the United Methodist Women since 1951.

She held numerous positions in the United Methodist Women, one of which was President of the South West Conference.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, John A. Hoeber; her two daughters, Deborah (William) Bowles and Jonna Botello (Chuck) Funk; one son, Larry (Paulette) Hoeber; a special niece, Rosalind (Jim) Worthman, six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 27, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Curran officiating.

Interment will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Billie Fay O’Neal

Billie Fay O’Neal, 75, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010 at her home.  She was born October 28, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas to Burney B. and Myrtle Fay Billington Riddle.  She was a graduate of W. B. Ray High School and a member of River Hills Baptist Church.  She had worked as an operator for Bell Telephone, a PBX operator for the Corpus Christi Police Department and she and her husband founded O’Neal Welding.  She was a generous contributor to many different charities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Larry Dean O’Neal and her brother, Robert Riddle.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, W. C. “Dub” O’Neal of Corpus Christi, Texas; her sons, Carry Wayne O’Neal of Orlando, Florida and Barry Lane O’Neal and his wife Beatrice of Corpus Christi, Texas; three grandchildren, Brittany O’Neal and Trinity O’Neal both of Austin, Texas and W. C. O’Neal, II of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Brother William Brown officiating.  Burial will follow in Robstown Memorial Park.

Kathryn Buckley Whiteley

Kathryn Buckley Whiteley, 83, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010.  She was born on February 3, 1927 to Rueben Ahlgren and Ruby Munson Ahlgren in Taylor, Texas.

She graduated at Georgetown High School in 1944.  She married the love of her life, Bob Whiteley.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Buckley, husband, Bob Whiteley and son Wayne Buckley.

Survivors include her sister, Joyce Davis, Joyce’s husband Herb, their two daughters Kay and Terri, a brother Charles Ahlgren, his children Diane and Albert, extended family, Kenny and Susan Givens, their daughters Kindell, Katrina and Kyleigh, her family at TriSun, Ester Bentancourt, Leslie Britt, Albert Bussey, Charlene Bussey, Ilda Coleman, Sue Cook, Gloria De Los Santos, Precilla Enriquez, Melinda Farias, Regina Felah, Aaron Fleming, Anna Flores, Delia Garcia, JoAnn Garcia, Ester Garrett, Noelia Garza, Maria Gonzalez, Grace Guajardo, Sylvia Holbert, Marlena Johnson, Hutie McLennan, Terry Moreno, Paul Morin, Fossia Perryman, Rosemary Rivera, Patti Romano, Melinda Miranda Valdez and Wendy Wilmont.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service for Kathryn will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at TriSun Assisted Living, 202 Fortune Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas.
