Doris Louise “Becky” Sharp

Doris Louise “Becky” Sharp, 85, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010. She was born March 4, 1925 in Pratt, Kansas to Royal Delbert and Lillian Hall Beck. She was a homemaker and a member of Norton Street church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William Richard “Bill” Sharp.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Rodney) Howald of Sugar Land, Texas and Beckilu “Becki” (Paul) Dannels of Goliad, Texas; her son, David (Jan) Sharp of Kerrville, Texas; her grandchildren, Kimberly (Lewis) Wilks of Sugar Land, Texas, Kelly (Christopher) Leverett of Plano, Texas, Christian (Chanda) Howald of Oakley, California, Wendi (Rusty) Walker of Plaquemine, Louisiana, James Sharp of Pleasanton, Texas, Jacob Dannels and Heather Dannels both of Goliad, Texas, Dustin (Candice) Featherston of San Marcos, Texas and Jennifer Featherston of Laredo, Texas; her great grandchildren, Berkeley Wilks, Braxton Wilks, Cade Leverett, Callie Anne Leverett, Canon Leverett, Hadley Howald, Aydin Featherson and Maci Featherston; her brother-in-law, Jack (Kaffy) Sharp of Canyon Lake, Texas.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, December 3, 2010 at Norton Street church of Christ with Eddie Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to Lifeline Chaplaincy, 1415 Southmore Blvd., Houston, Texas 77004.

Kenneth W. Miller

Miller, Kenneth

Kenneth W. Miller, 84, of Corpus Christi, Texas and a former longtime resident of Bishop, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 26, 2010. He was born November 10, 1926 in Minburn, Iowa to Elza John Miller and Stella Smithers Miller. Kenneth was a U. S. Army veteran serving during WWII, a Pioneer Seed Dealer and a lifelong farmer. He had been a Deacon in the First Baptist Church in Bishop, Texas, where he was a member for over 60 years, and presently was a member of First Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a member of the Gideons International and had a heart for Missions.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Miller, his daughter, Molly Black and grandson, Jeffrey Timme.

He is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Doris Miller of Corpus Christi, Texas; his daughters, Andranette (Bill) Humphries of Austin, Texas and Phyllis (Perry) Timme of Farmington, New Mexico; his son, Mark (Jeannie) Miller of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kenneth (Lauren) Humphries, Andrew (Stacy) Miller, Douglas Humphries, Katie (Jordan) Patterson, Elizabeth Humphries, Grant Browning Miller, and Stephen Timme; great grandchild, Dorothy Grace Miller; son-in-law, Joe Black of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter-in-law, Kelli Bergoon of Taft, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at 3 P.M. Monday, November 29, 2010 at First Baptist Church Chapel on Ocean Drive with Rev. Hugh White and Rev. Ronny Marriott officiating.

Ellen A. Townsend

Townsend, Ellen A.

Ellen A. Townsend, 97, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, a former longtime resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010.  She was born September 7, 1913 in Stephens County, Oklahoma to Grover and Mary Elnora Morris Dillon.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ at Riverside.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford Oren “Bud” Townsend and her son, Hubert Townsend.

She is survived by her son, Stanley (Louise) Townsend of Tulsa, Oklahoma, her daughters, Genieve (Clyde) Smith of Kingsville, Texas and Christine (Archie) Specker of Odessa, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 8 P.M. Friday, November 26, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Matthew Gibson officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Paul E. Elsner

Elsner, Paul

Paul E. Elsner, age 93, of Paris, Texas, formerly of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away November 20, 2010.  Mr. Elsner was born December 27, 1916 in San Antonio, Texas to Paul Otto and Mary Annie Seerik Elsner.

 

Mr. Elsner was a member of the Masonic Lodge, employed by B.D. Holt for twenty years and Alcoa Aluminum in Port Lavaca for eighteen years.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Johnnie Mae Elsner.

 

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Elsner; son, Ron (Cheri) Elsner; sister, Mary Spain Jobe; step-children, Jeff (Lisa) Reneau, Randall Reneau, Suzann (Mike) Teel, Jennifer (Carl) Lambright; three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be on Monday, November 22, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in the St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeffrey Thompson officiating.

 

Interment will be at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in the San Fernando Cemetery # 3 in San Antonio, Texas. 

Edmond L. Haught (Leroy)

Haught, Edmond

Edmond L. Haught (Leroy), 81, passed away November 15, 2010 in Corpus Christi, Texas.  He was born April 13, 1929 in Vernon, Texas to Albert and Opal Grimes Haught.

 

Leroy was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Robstown Masonic Lodge #1062 A.F. & A.M., a member of the Al Amin Shrine Temple, Robstown Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #540 and was a member of the Scottish Rite. He was presented the Golden Trowel at his Masonic Lodge in 2009 and was so proud of this honor, and we were so proud of him.

 

Leroy was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Marcella (Marcy) Haught, his youngest daughter, Nikki Harper, his son, Joe Layne, his parents, Albert and Opal Haught, his in-laws, Ollie and Maggie McGary and a great granddaughter, Amy Jo Johnson.

 

Surviving him are his daughters, Judy (Joel) Branum of Princeton, Texas and Barbara Evans Hughes of Corpus Christi, Texas and daughter-in-law, Ginger Layne; sister, Ann Rainwater; brothers, Herb  Haught (Joni), Richard  Haught(Lou Ann); brothers-in-law, Mac McGary(Joan), Tommy McGary (Betty) and Dub McGary. He is also survived by his companion of ten years, Sue Jordon. He has eleven grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, all of whom loved and adored their Paw Paw.

 

To the nurses and staff on the third floor at Doctors Regional Hospital and   Angel Bright Hospice “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the loving care you gave our Dad and for the ever so sincere support you gave to us, his family”. It is without doubt there are angels on earth – we have met some!

 

Our Dad was an exceptional man and we were so blessed to have him for our Daddy. He loved us with his “heart as big as Texas” and we know everyday of our lives that “There is always love in Daddy’s hands.” He will forever be missed, but never forgotten.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 7:30 P.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

 

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the Duddlesten Funeral Home, 604 West Hidalgo in Raymondville, Texas with graveside services and interment at 2:00 P.M. in the Lyford Evergreen Cemetery in Lyford, Texas.
