Michael Joe Berry

Michael Joe Berry, age 60, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away April 5, 2011. He was born October 22, 1950 in San Antonio to Joe and Myrtle Berry.

He served in The United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device and the Army Commendation Medal. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of the Sons of Herman and a member of the Bexar County Sheriffs Mounted Posse.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Gail Berry of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and David Cole of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandson, Denton Cole of Corpus Christi, Texas; granddaughter, Taylor Cole of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Peggy Berry of Fulton, Texas; nieces and nephews, Annette and Glenn Lamm and Brian and Angie Berry; close friend Rodney Rankin.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 8, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be at a later date in the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Mildred Baldwin Clement

Mildred Baldwin Clement, 86, of Lake City, Texas passed away April 5, 2011.

She was born December 11, 1924 in Mexia, Texas to George and Dennie Baldwin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Frank Gary Clement and her husband, Allen Dale Clement, Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Ann Brown of Lake City, Texas; sons, Allen Dale Clement, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas and Daryl Clement of Lake City, Texas; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Seaside Memorial Park.

Irene Schanzle Todd

Irene Schanzle Todd was granted her angel wings on April 2, 2011 at the age of 90. She was born May 29, 1920 in Carmi, Illinois and was a longtime resident of Corpus Christi, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Ben A. Todd, Jr. and three children, Margaret Stewart (Tim), Kelly Todd (Sherry) and Caroline Todd.

She is survived by her daughter, Jo Anne Todd; four grandchildren, Jessica Messier, Carolyn Messier, Amy Holmes (Kevin) and Leslie Edwards (Bruce); one great grandchild, Hadley Holmes.

Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Friday, April 8, 2011 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

Jacqulene Spurlock Hefte

Jacqulene Spurlock Hefte of Robstown, Texas, passed away April 1, 2011.  She was born September 10, 1929 in San Saba, Texas to Jack and Jessie Spurlock.  Jacque graduated from Texas Tech University in 1952 with a B.S. in Education.  She and Bennett moved to Robstown following graduation and have resided there the remainder of their lives.  She was active in community Cancer Association fundraising and was a member and past president of the Robstown Garden Club.  She and Bennett owned and raced thoroughbred horses for 35 years and were members of the New Mexico Horseman’s Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Jessie Spurlock, her beloved husband, Bennett Hefte and a sister-in-law, Wanda Spurlock.

She is survived by her brother, Bill Spurlock of San Antonio, Texas; nieces, Deborah (Lewis) Radicke, Kathryn (Mark) Yahn, Marsha Spurlock, Brenda (Bob) Sandefur, Katheryn (Scott) Perry; nephews, Stephen Spurlock, Gary (Linda) Garrett, David (Cynthia) Garrett and Kenneth Tom (Lauri) Hefte.

Visitation will be held from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Monday, April 4, 2011 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 3 P.M. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Robstown Memorial Park.  Interment will follow.
