Elva “Ma Maw” Collins

Elva “Ma Maw” Collins, 93, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011. She was born May 26, 1918 to William and Clara Kievel Young. Mrs. Collins was a welder in Washington state during WWII and she and her husband were homebuilders. She was a homemaker and member of Southcrest Baptist Church. Ma Maw was best known for her country cooking and gardening. Her family was her treasure and she loved them dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Collins, her daughter, Shirley Wittliff, her son-in-law, Albert “Buck” Wittliff and a grandson, Bruce Wittliff.

She is survived by her daughter, Lena (Buddy) Walker of Corpus Christi, Texas; her sister, Edith Bellah of Corpus Christi, Texas; four grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Wittliff of Houston, Texas, Bret (Michele) Walker of Pipe Creek, Texas, Lori Walker of Odem, Texas and Stephanie (Pat) McDaniel of Sinton, Texas; 10 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren and one more expected.

Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until 2 P.M. before the services on Saturday, September 24, 2011.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Elsie Inez Carrell

Elsie Inez Carrell, age 89, of Corpus Christi, Texas went to be with her Savior on September 20, 2011. Mrs. Carrell was born October 21, 1921 in Bell County, Texas to Clinton and Lula Myrick.

She was a loving and devoted Mother and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Houston Carrell; a son, Randell Carrell and a grandson, Scott Carrell.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Stringer of Corpus Christi, Texas; sons, Jimmy Carrell of Keller, Texas, Lynn Carrell of Skidmore, Texas; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jack Willoughby officiating.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Odem.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Frances Benavidez, for her loving care of their parents. She was like a member of our family.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Calallen Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society

Richard James Prochazka

Richard James Prochazka, age 57 of Robstown, Texas passed away September 19, 2011. He was born December 11, 1953 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Anton Louis and Nora Prochazka.

He was preceded in death by his father, Anton Louis Prochazka and is survived by his children, Mandy Ann Thomason of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Darla Kay Zenner of Boerne, Texas, Brandon James Prochazka of Corpus Christi, Texas; brothers and sister, Robert Joe Prochazka, Louis Charles Prochazka, Carolyn Lyn Walter, Jerome David Prochazka, Dale Lawrence Prochazka, Chris Allen Prochazka, Paul Sterling Prochazka; mother, Nora Marie Prochazka; grandchildren, Deric Garza, Casey Beavers, Camron Beavers, Heather Thomason, Khyla Breanne Prochazka.

Visitation will be at Sawyer-George Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Robstown Memorial Park with Rev. Msgr. Michael Howell officiating.

Interment will follow.

Mary Jeanette Robinson Ranly

Mary Jeanette Robinson Ranly passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011, at her home in Corpus Christi, Texas after a long battle with cancer. A member of an early pioneer family,

Jeanette was born on May 4, 1935 to Bernice and Phillip Robinson.

Jeanette was a person of many talents and would tackle any task with gusto. She took her job of caring for her husband and raising her family very seriously, and she was an exceptional wife and mother. Her heart warmed the spirits of her loved ones and her intellect guided their betterment.

Jeanette undertook the education of her children with the utmost care, instilling in them the only lesson of importance-the meaning of family. She was happiest when she was caring for her family, most especially her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.

To say we will miss Jeanette is an understatement, but her presence lives on in the goodness of our lives, which is the most perfect way to honor her memory. The family extends their deepest appreciation to all those family members and friends who helped care for Jeanette in her remaining months.

Jeanette is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Donald J. Ranly of Corpus Christi, Texas; their children, Jennifer (Dale Nelson) Zunke of Portland, Texas, Keith (Leslee) Ranly of Sugar Land, Texas, Lauren (Lance) Duke of Corpus Christi, Texas; her most precious grandchildren, Hunter and Abigail Ranly of Sugar Land, Texas, Lawson Duke of Corpus Christi, Texas, Dale (Jackie) Zunke of Atlanta, Georgia; her sister, Phyllis (Edward) Smith of Corpus Christi, Texas; her niece, Melissa Smith of San Antonio, Texas; two nephews, Kyle (Ashley) Smith and Brandon (Wendy) Smith both of Corpus Christi, Texas; numerous extended family and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 6:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1008 Austin Street, Portland, Texas 78374, with Rev. Msgr. Mark Chamberlin as Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters, Blessed Sacrament Convent, 4105 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas 78411 or the Ark Assessment Center and Emergency Shelter for Youth, 12960 Leopard St., Corpus Christi, Texas 78410.

Frederic (Ric) Godfrey

Frederic (Ric) Godfrey

Sunday, September 11, 2011, Ric left this earth to join his Savior Jesus Christ in heaven. He was born on August 19, 1944, to Walter Godfrey and Lucille Moye Godfrey in Aransas Pass, TX. and was raised in Brownsville, TX.

 

Those left to mourn him are his devoted wife and best friend, Dee Godfrey, stepchildren James (Valerie) Williams, Victoria, TX., Debra Wright and Chris (Sharon) Williams, Corpus Christi, TX also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 5 great grand children, sisters, Kay Rafool and Dawn Wilkins of Peoria, Il. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother Walt Godfrey.

 

A family memorial will be held September 18, 2011 at sunset on the bay. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church in Calallen or the SPCA.
