Dellave “Sissy” Brittain

Dellave “Sissy” Brittain, 84, of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas passed away Monday, November 21, 2011. She was born December 9, 1926 in Robstown, Texas to Hugh Vickers, Sr. and Ruby Caperton Vickers. Mrs. Brittain was a homemaker and a charter member of Central Baptist Church which is now River Hills Baptist Church in Robstown, Texas and was presently a congregant member of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Brittain; her granddaughter, Dawn Urban; her parents; two brothers, Hugh Vickers, Jr. and Roy Vickers; her father-in-law and her mother-in-law, George Brittain, Sr. and Nellie Brittain; her brothers-in-law, George Brittain, Jr. and Douglas Brittain.

She is survived by her daughters, Faye (Wes) Atkison, Vicky (Edwin) Miller and Shirley (Larry) Urban; her son, Richard (Karen) Brittain; her brother, Buddy (Treva) Vickers; her sisters-in-law, Zelda Merle Brittain, Carolyn Brittain and Nita Vickers; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation, with the family present, will be from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Friday, November 25, 2011 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with her first cousin, Brother Bob Caperton officiating. Burial will follow in Robstown Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Brad Atkison, Todd Wright, Scott Miller, D’Wayne Lemm, Josh Urban, Reagan Rich, James Oliver and Dereck Wright.

Sharon Statler Harlan

Sharon Statler Harlan of Corpus Christi, Texas, age 58, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2011 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Sharon was born on May 2, 1953 to James Clay and Mary Edith Statler. She and her family moved to Corpus Christi after her father got out of the service. Sharon graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 1971. Sharon had worked for Southwest Airlines for ten years and left for a career in media and marketing sales. She recently retired from the Corpus Christi Caller-Times after 15 years of service. She will always be remembered for her love of life, laughter, the outdoors, her generosity, devotion to her friends and family, and her innate ability to never let regret get in the way of chasing her dreams. Sharon was known for being a wonderful friend and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Sharon was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and a deeply passionate person who will be missed by many.

She is preceded in death by her parents: James Clay and Mary Edith Statler and her sister, Dyan Statler Reed.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Harlan; her five children: Courtney Cox (Clint), Hunter Tegeler (Courtney), Matt Harlan, Jared Harlan, and Ryan Harlan; one grandchild, Ryleigh Grace Tegeler.

Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi, Texas on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 beginning at 2:00 p.m..

Burial services will be held at Barksdale Cemetery in Barksdale, Texas on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to MD Anderson Cancer Center-Brain and Spine Center in Sharon’s name

Nancy Cheryle Park Hopkins

Nancy Cheryle Park Hopkins passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011. She was born in Canton, Texas, on March 2, 1947. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Terry Hopkins. She is survived by her sisters, Ellen Park (Ed Grimm) and Rene’e Jones (Bill); a son, Sean Hopkins and his wife Rosa; a daughter, Kathleen Hopkins Young and her husband Lance; grandchildren, Garrett and Colton Hopkins and Lina and Kade Young; and her church and hospice families that were so loved.

Cheryle, who is loved by many, shared God’s love with others through her cooking and along her travels. Her love for all things Scottish almost equaled her love for knowledge and books. She will be remembered for sharing her love of the written word with family and friends through her frequent letters and notes.

As a Hospice Chaplain serving the South Texas area, Cheryle brought comfort, peace and warmth to every home she visited.

She left this world richer for all of the stories she told and recorded.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, at 3:00 p.m. at Arlington Heights Church of Christ, Corpus Christi Texas.

Donations in lieu of flowers should be sent to Arlington Heights Church of Christ, 2722 Rand Morgan Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410 (361) 241-1612. On the memo line, note in honor of Liam Lowe, a child who is battling leukemia. It will be used for his courageous battle.

Evadean “Dean” Clark

Evadean “Dean” Clark, 72, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011. She was born July 15, 1939 in Lincoln, Arkansas to Kelton E. and Alberta Groce Myers.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kelton Myers; her step-father, Charles Rush; her brothers, Norman and Buddy Myers; her sister, Barbara Gilstrap; a son, Ernest Clark.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Clark; her sons, Dean (Pam) Clark, Charles “Bubba” Clark and Greg Clark; her mother, Alberta G. Rush all of Corpus Christi, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until 8 P.M. with the family present from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.

Clinton Joe Wostal

Clinton Joe Wostal, 73, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011. He was born November 9, 1938 in Orange Grove, Texas to Felix and Hazel Thompson Wostal. He retired from CP&L after 38 years of service, was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and had been a Boy Scout Leader.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Jimmy Lee Milner.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Netek Wostal; his son, C. J. Wostal; his daughter, Vicki Wostal; his granddaughter, Caitlyn; his step-children, Sandra Netek (Charlie) Goulette, Donna Netek Tischler, Bruce (Donna) Netek and Richard (Carol) Netek; his sisters, Betty Milner, Joyce (Ralph) Dickey and Martha (Don) McCloskey; numerous step-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

The Rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 P.M. Thursday, November 17, 2011 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove with Rev. Msgr. Michael Howell as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John of the Cross Catholic Cemetery in Orange Grove.
