Lloyd Grady Winston

Lloyd Grady Winston, 87, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012. He was born June 10, 1924 in Whitehouse, Texas to Thomas Grady and Josephine Robinson Winston. Lloyd served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII in the Pacific. He was an architect and designed many commercial buildings in Corpus Christi.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eloise Davis Winston; sons, Mark Davis (Christyann) Winston of El Dorado Hills, California and Lloyd Lindsey (Christine) Winston of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Mildred Williams of Tucson, Arizona; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private.

Oda “Odie” Cleveland McMeans

McMeans, Oda

Oda “Odie” Cleveland McMeans, 93, of Banquete, Texas passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012. He was born January 11, 1919 in Karnes City, Texas to Clarence Dixon and Elvarena McCain McMeans. Odie graduated from Banquete High School in 1939 and was the oldest living Banquete Bulldog. During WWII he served as a Tec 5 in the Medical Detachment of the 70th Tank Battalion, U.S. Army. He was in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns and fought in the Battle of the Bulge and D Day as a combat medic driving a half track on the front lines. He retired from Gillring Oil Company after 41 years of service. While living in Robstown he was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he had served as the Chairman of the Board at one time and was a Robstown Fire Department volunteer. He helped establish and had been a Fire Commissioner for the Bluntzer Fire Department, and had been a member of the Banquete Lions Club. He attended River Hills Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ella Mae Schroeder, Marie Davis and Elvarena Powell; his brothers, Lee McMeans and Clyde McMeans; his first wife, Betty Jean McMeans and his second wife, Bonnie Rose McMeans.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Donald Wayne) Herrmann of Banquete, Texas, Debbie (Dexter) Menefee of Carrollton, Texas and Cindy (Bill) Poole of Angleton, Texas; his grandchildren, Jon (Lacey) Herrmann of Bluntzer, Texas, Scot (Jennifer) Herrmann of Calallen, Texas and Joe Herrmann of Bluntzer, Texas; Alison (Nate) Maas of Los Angeles, California, Colin Menefee of Carrollton, Texas, Morgan (Jeremy) Jeffers of Katy, Texas, Katie (Ryan) Summers of Tyler, Texas and Allen Poole of Angleton, Texas (He was known as Grandan to them and many of their friends); great grandchildren, Hallee, Hayes, Hank, Landon, Logan and Braden Herrmann and Addyson Jeffers; sister, Eddie Belle Carter of Robstown, Texas; brothers, Clarence McMeans, Jr. of Hemet, California and Edward (Charlotte) McMeans of Calallen, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Visitation with the family present will be from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Thursday, February 2, 2012 at River Hills Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Robstown Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Jon, Scot and Joe Herrmann, Colin Menefee, Allen Poole, Alison Maas, Morgan Jeffers and Katie Summers and his nephew, Wesley McMeans.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Country Center/Carmen’s Coffee Club.

William “Bill” Randolph Curry

William “Bill” Randolph Curry, age 79, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on January 25, 2012. He was born on August 19, 1932 in Houston, Texas to Newell and Verona Curry.

He was a graduate of Texas A&M and served in the United States Air Force.

Bill loved his membership in all of his Masonic Organizations and his Eastern Star. He was an endowed member in most of the organizations and served as an officer many times.

During his more than 35 years in Corpus Christi, Texas he co-owned and operated several businesses in the Corpus area. He retired to his house in Kingsland, Texas and enjoyed fishing and traveling with Margie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, W.B. Honea, his first wife Marcella M. Curry, and grandson Michael Kilmer.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Margie D. Curry; children, Karen C. Graham, Boyce Curry (Sabra), Bryan Curry (Terri), Bruce Curry (Karen), Mike Kilmer (Kim), and Julie Langseth (Mark); sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; step-mother Lois Honea; and sister Sharon Butler (Mickey).

Special thanks to the staff of Trisun River Ridge Nursing Center for their care during his last years.

Graveside funeral services with Masonic Rites will be conducted in the Robstown Memorial Park at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 30, 2012.

Interment will follow.

Pallbearers will be the men he called sons and special friends: Boyce Curry, Bryan Curry, Bruce Curry, Mike Kilmer, Jimmy Tipton, and Roy McKinley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Scottish Rite Hospitals or your favorite charity.

Amber A. Price

Price, Amber

Amber A. Price, age 85, of Robstown, Texas passed away January 26, 2012 in Robstown, Texas.

She was born October 14, 1926 in Boyce, Louisiana to John and Ida Martin.

She was preceded in death by her husband J.D. Price, twelve brothers and sisters, and a great grand baby, Abbie Gayle Castillo.

She is survived by her children, Euell Price, Donna (Andy) Rocha, Keith Price; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; brother, Amos (Hattie) Martin; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Sunday January 29, 2012 from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the River Hills Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Simmons officiating.

Interment will follow in the Robstown Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Rocha, Jonathan Price, Albert Castillo, Dennis Martin, Larry Martin and Eddie Kellam.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Randall Gaines and Harold Martin.

Daisy Ruth Ford Green

Green, Daisy Ruth

The angels welcomed Daisy Ruth Ford Green, 86, to her heavenly home on January 25, 2012. She was born in Karnes County on July 5, 1925, to the late Arthur Elisha and Ethel Wickliffe Ford. She married her childhood sweetheart, Jimmie E. “Red” Green on October 29, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She deeply loved her God, family and friends. Her home was the gathering point for all and as a result, she was affectionately known as “Mom” to many. She will be dearly missed.

Daisy was predeceased by her loving husband, “Red” Green; her parents, Arthur Elisha and Ethel Wickliffe Ford; her brothers, William Ezra Ford, Clay Ford and Clayton Ford and her twin sons, JE and JD Green.

She is survived by her son, Jimmy E. Green, Jr. (Brenda); her daughter, Karen Dishman (Chris); her grandchildren, Melissa Hamilton, Richard Hamilton (Jessica), Kendra Gruen (Jeff), Danny Seals and the apple of her eye, her great grandchildren, Kaity Thomas and Emma and Conner Gruen as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sydney Vannoy officiating. Burial will follow in the George West Cemetery in George West, Texas.
