Regina “Jean” Gallagher

Regina “Jean” Gallagher, age 88, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2012 after a long illness.

Jean was born on May 9, 1923 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She is descended from South Texas pioneer Bluntzer and Gallagher families. Jean was employed by Southwestern Bell for over 18 years. Miss Gallagher was a long time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Margaret Gallagher.

She is survived by her two sisters, Marie Jernigan and Pat Irene Gallagher.

Visitation will begin at 6 P.M. with the Rosary to be recited at 7 P.M. Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Monday, April 30, 2012 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 3350 South Alameda, with Rev. Msgr. Roger Smith as celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Melvin Lylen McNair

McNair, Melvin

Melvin Lylen McNair of Driscoll, Texas passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012. He was 85 years old.

Melvin was born on February 6, 1927 to Jessie and Terrell McNair. He was a farmer by trade, but by life, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He spent many hours with family and friends enjoying life at the lake and at the hunting lease. His friends knew him as “Catfish” and his family knew him as “Mac”.

Melvin was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bishop. He was always active in his community. He served as Driscoll School Board President for many years and coached Little League and served as Scout Master for two Boy Scout Troops. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy. He served on numerous Boards within the farming community and earned the “Outstanding Young Farmer” Award. Even after his retirement from farming, he still worked and guided his sons to continue the farming tradition. He loved the farming life and he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid game player.

Melvin graduated from Robstown High School and attended Texas A & M College Station and Texas A & I Kingsville. He was married to Helen Fox for 63 years and they raised three sons together. His sons were always a tremendous source of pride for Mac.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Terrell McNair and one brother, Winfred McNair.

He is survived by his wife, Helen McNair; three sons, David McNair, Donny McNair (Sweetie) and Larry McNair (Lisa); two grandsons, Brad McNair and Lincoln McNair (Nikki); three granddaughters, Lindey Sappington (Jessie), Erin McNair and Morgan McNair; three great grandchildren, Sydnee, Ben and Ethan Sappington. He is also survived by his brother, Bill McNair (Joy).

Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until 7 P.M. with the family present from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held privately prior to the memorial service at the Robstown Memorial Park.

Services will be Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Bishop at 2 P.M. with The Rev. Beth Tatum officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brad McNair, Lincoln McNair, Jessie Sappington, Mike McNair, Chad Fox, Curtis Fox, Jr. and Charlie Cornett.

Those who wish may make contributions to the First United Methodist Church in Bishop, Texas.

Theodore Allen Brewer

Theodore Allen Brewer, age 65 of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away April 17, 2012.

He was born February 11, 1947 in Keokuk, Iowa to Maurice Herbert and Margaret Angelica Grimpe Brewer.

Mr. Brewer served in the United States Marine Corp and the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his son, Matthew (Tammy) Brewer; sister, Pat Brewer; step-brother, Lawrence Lawson; step-son, Mark Babcock; Diane Gray Babcock Brewer mother of Matt Brewer.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.

James Robert Greer

James Robert Greer, 51, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012. He was born December 30, 1959 in Astoria, Oregon. He was the co-owner of Atomic Omelette & Grill, which was a dream come true.

He is survived by Lisa Schroeder, the love of his life; one son, Kyle Greer; his father, Bob Greer and his wife Rene; two brothers, Steve and Kevin Greer; on step-brother, Robby Roberts; one step-sister, Debi Bradley; close nieces, Jesi Greer and Alyssa Bradley; an aunt, Nancy Wilcox; many close family and friends.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Yorktown Baptist Church, 5025 Yorktown Boulevard, with Rev. Kevin Schroeder officiating.

Edward Frank Havelka

Edward Frank Havelka, Sr., also known as E. F. Havelka, builder, was born October 25, 1921 and died on April 14, 2012 at the age of 90, after a year long illness. He was married to Margaret “Margie” Palousek for 65 years. He was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII, was a founding member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in 1947, a member of the Knights of Columbus, KJT, and the American Legion. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing to Czech music, and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, six sisters and granddaughter, Margie Cameron.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Havelka; three daughters and two sons, Joanie Adkins married to Howard of Corpus Christi, Texas, Randy Havelka, Sr. married to Janet Abbe of Hutto, Texas, Sharon Albert married to Jackie of Indiana, Pennsylvania, Denise “Dinky” Sellers married to Dan of Lago Vista, Texas, Edward Havelka, Jr. married to Dorothy Dunham of Pearland, Texas; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Miller Smith (Barry), Tamra Monninger (Richard), Randy Havelka, Jr. (Megan), Christopher Havelka (Charlene), Lori Albert, Andrew Albert (Courtney), Jason Sellers, Heather Lane and Stephen Havelka (Tamara); seventeen great grandchildren, Kearen, Haidee and Denika Monninger, Daxton Havelka, Casey and Matteson Kapa, Cameron, Caroline and Jackson “Pinky” Albert, Talen Sellers, Faith and Victoria Strohm, Nicole Lane, Luka and Lyla Havelka, Kaitlyn and Maegen; one great great grandchild, Olivia.

The Rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

The Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at 9 A.M. Friday, April 20, 2012 at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, April 20, 2012 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to St. Theresa Catholic Church.
