Linda Spiller

Linda Spiller, 70, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012. She was born April 9, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas to Jess Arthur Mullins, Jr. and Virginia McWilliams Mullins. Linda taught school for 42 years and for over 25 years taught for Tuloso-Midway I.S.D. at the high school. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Coastal Bend Audubon Society for over 25 years.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Kyle Spiller of Corpus Christi, Texas; her son, George Spiller of Austin, Texas; her daughter, Catherine Spiller of Kansas City, Missouri; her sisters, M’Liss (Forest) Jordan and Michelle (Michael) McClure all of Blanco, Texas; three nieces and one nephew.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Grace United Methodist Church, 14521 Northwest Boulevard, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410 with The Rev. Stan Whites officiating.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions in her memory to the Coastal Bend Audubon Society, P. O. Box 3604, Corpus Christi, Texas 78463.

Dorothy Virginia Bennett

Bennett, Dorothy

Dorothy Virginia Bennett, 78, of Corpus Christi, Texas, went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2012. She was born June 23, 1934 in Ben Lomond, Arkansas to Wallace Howard and Ethel Dora Freeman Taylor. She enjoyed her gardening, canning, quilting and especially her roses. She held a senior group get together on Thursdays where up to seven others and she had special times.

She was preceded in death by her husbands John Jones, Sr. and Gerald “Gary” Bennett; her brothers, Wallace, Jr., William Ray and Windell Taylor.

She leaves behind five children, John Jones, Jr. (Karen), Peggy Selk, James Jones (Sue), Paul Jones and Mark Jones (Shelley); nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; brothers, Donald Taylor (Betty) and Robert Taylor (Meg); a sister-in-law, Irene Taylor.

Visitation with the family present will be from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Friday, August 24, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jack Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Seaside Memorial Park.

Joseph Clinton “J. C.” Hibbetts

Hibbetts, Joseph

Joseph Clinton “J. C.” Hibbetts, 92, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012. He was born May 19, 1920 on a farm near Winters, Texas to James Marshall and Mary Ever Virden Hibbetts. J. C. was a U. S Navy veteran of WWII, was a former member of Gardendale Baptist Church and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Patti Jean Hibbetts.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Hibbetts of Corpus Christi, Texas; his children, Kennard (Charlene) Hibbetts and Susan (Julian) Collier all of Corpus Christi, Texas; four grandchildren, Scott (Cheryl) Hibbetts, Ryan (Christi) Hibbetts, Deanna (Joseph) Ritz and Daniel Collier; 6 great grandchildren; her children, Gary (Jerilyn) Reed and Connie (Billy) Bird all of Corpus Christi, Texas; his sister, Clois Sanders of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Graveside funeral services with military honors will be conducted at 10 A.M. Friday, August 24, 2012 at Seaside Memorial Park. Burial will follow.

Russell Abraham Cordo, Sr.

Cardo, Russell, Sr.

Russell Abraham Cordo, Sr., 80 years young, passed away on August 20, 2012.

He was born April 10, 1932, in Norwood, Mass. to Anthony & Lisa Cordo.

He served with the U.S. Air Force before working for the Caller Times where he was employed for 31 years. He was a quite and reserved man who always had his beloved dog Shay with him where ever he went.

He was preceded in death by his sister Veronica Patterson.

Russell is survived by his wife, Paula Cordo; brother, Joe Cordo; his son, Russell Cordo Jr. (Diana) and daughter Lisa Cotham (Steve); grand children, Mandy Benavidez (Jesse), Steven Cotham Jr., Jennifer Cordo and Alexis; great grand children Jackson and Anya Benavidez.

Memorial Services will be conducted on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Odem Church of Christ, 1101 Voss Ave., Odem Texas 78370.

Lewis Woolery

Woolery

Lewis Woolery, age 77, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on August 15, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

He was born January 8, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John Woolery and Helen Bean Woolery.

Lewis and his family lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, for 16 years before relocating to Corpus Christi, Texas in 2005.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.

Lewis is survived by his wife of 29 years, Elaine Woolery; stepdaughter, LaShea (Thomas) Tiffin; stepson, Shane Knox; sons, Brian and Russell Woolery; granddaughters; Ashlynn and Kaylee Racine and Makenzee Tiffin.

Lewis served our country for 12 years in the United States Air Force. He was an Airline Captain for Braniff Airlines for 32 years and also was a United States National Aerobatic Champion.

A Memorial Service with full military honors will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with The Rev. Stan Whites officiating.
