Nell Smith

Smith, Nell

Nell Smith, 87, of Corpus Christi, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 27, 2012. She was born July 6, 1925 in Sinton, Texas to Forest Holloway and Susie Vickers Holloway. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and very active member of Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe M. Smith in 1997, her daughters, Susan Adams and Alice Nell Smith, her brothers, William, Jack and Doug Holloway and her sister, Edna Moore.

She is survived by her grandsons, Brad (Wendy) Freeman of Corpus Christi, Texas and Clint (Tamra) Freeman of Pflugerville, Texas; great grandchildren, Tyler, Hunter, Kailea, Haleigh and Kirsten Freeman; her brother, Theodore (Margaret) Holloway of Leander, Texas; her sister, Betty (D. L.) Turner of Bertram, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 P.M. until 7 P.M. Friday, November 30, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church with Pastor John McAllister officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.

Those who wish may make contributions to the Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church Foundation Repair Fund.

David Norman Haile

David Norman Haile, 66, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012. He was born April 6, 1946 in Abilene, Texas to Hubert L. and Alberta Marie Heffernan Haile. David was employed as a heavy equipment crane operator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jeffery David Haile and a daughter, Christy Leanne Haile.

He is survived by his brothers, Ronnie L. Haile of New Braunfels, Texas and Rickey H. (Sherryl) Haile of Corpus Christi, Texas; his sister, Wynon A. (Charles) Rogers of Midland, Texas; his daughter, Heather Marie Sparks of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Robstown Memorial Park Cemetery with Brother Jack Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow.

Margaret “Margie” Havelka

Havelka, Margie

Margaret “Margie” Havelka was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1926 and died on November 24, 2012 at the age of 86 after a short-term battle with cancer. She was a founding member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in 1947, a member of the Altar Society and KJZT. In her earlier years she enjoyed sewing, baking Kolaches, dancing to Czech music, going to the Corpus Christi Dog track and Vegas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Frank Havelka Sr. on April 14, 2012, her parents, all three of her brothers, and granddaughter Margie Cameron.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons, Joanie Adkins married to Howard of Corpus Christi, Texas, Randy Havelka, Sr. married to Janet Abbe of Hutto, Texas, Sharon Albert married to Jackie of Indiana, Pennsylvania, Denise “Dinky” Sellers married to Dan of Lago Vista, Texas, Edward Havelka, Jr. married to Dorothy Dunham of Pearland, Texas; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Miller Smith (Barry), Tamra Monninger (Richard), Randy Havelka, Jr. (Megan), Christopher Havelka (Charlene), Lori Albert, Andrew Albert (Courtney), Jason Sellers, Heather Lane and Stephen Havelka (Tamara); seventeen great grandchildren, Kearen, Haidee and Denika Monninger, Daxton Havelka, Casey and Matteson Kapa, Cameron, Caroline and Jackson “Pinky” Albert, Talen Sellers, Faith and Victoria Strohm, Nicole Lane, Luka and Lyla Havelka, Kaitlyn and Maegen; one great great grandchild, Olivia.

The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

The Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at 9:30A.M. Friday, November 30, 2012 at St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 30, 2012 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Shirley Nadene Brooks

Shirley Nadene Brooks, 75, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012. She was born May 1, 1936 in Mathis, Texas to William Henry and Marguerite Dolan Carr.

Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Sharon Frietag and her husband of over 55 years, Caddo Brooks in 2008.

She is survived by her son, Bill Brooks of Corpus Christi, Texas; her daughter, Sandra (David) Rathke of Corpus Christi, Texas;

six grandchildren, Shawnna (Sterling Brucks) Bass, Matthew, Chase, Kiersten and Lance (Teri) Rathke and Cheryl Collins; six great grandchildren, Meagan and Kayla Pittman, Daryn, Torie and Cason Rathke and Coby Collins; one great great grandchild, Greyson Henry.

Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until 9 P.M. with the Rosary to be recited at 7 P.M. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church on FM 624 with Rev. Msgr. Michael Howell as celebrant. Burial will follow in Seaside Memorial Park.

Dorothy Ryherd

Orange Grove, Texas

Dorothy Ryherd, 88, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at her home with her family at her side after a long illness. She was born October 8, 1924 in Raymondville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Irene Oaks, her step-mother, Estella Oaks, her brother, George Oaks, Jr. and her husband, Lynn Ryherd.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (J.J.) Johnson of Calallen, Texas, and Cynthia Glass of Orange Grove, Texas; her son, Ronnie (Nelda) Ryherd of Orange Grove, Texas; her sister, Tillie (Bob) Rhodes of Raymondville, Texas; her brother, Robert Oaks of Houston, Texas; her step-sister, Jenny Strader of Brownsville, Texas; 6 grandchildren, Jesse (Sherry) Johnson, Kati (Bill) Davenport, Dorothy (Jason) Winston, Jason (Aubrie) Ryherd, Justin (Monica) Ryherd and Jordan Glass; 4 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until service time on Friday at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, November 23, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Robstown Memorial Park.
