Phyllis L. Hanson, 77, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away suddenly at her home on December 18, 2012.

She was born to Viola Mae and Max Metting on March 2, 1935 in Yorktown, Texas.

She was a graduate of Yorktown High School and retired form Central Power and Light Co. after thirty years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family meant everything to her and she will be truly missed by everyone that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Kenneth and Dennis Metting.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Donald L. Hanson; brother, Wayne Metting; daughter, Candyce G. Hanson Steward; son, Eugene E. (Rosetta M.) Hanson, Richard “Rick” Hanson; grandchildren, Gregory Steward, Melissa A. (Gordon) Chaviers, Jerry A. Campbell, Travis M. (Valerie) Hanson, Elizabeth J. Hanson and Taylor R. Hanson; great grandchildren, Nicholas Chaviers, Jackson Chaviers, Fransesca Chaviers, Jolena Ramos, Marley R. Hanson, and Drew Daniel Hanson.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 12 noon to 2:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roman Hernandez officiating.

Services will be concluded at the funeral home.

Donald Owen Taylor, LCDR U. S. Navy retired

Donald Owen Taylor, LCDR U. S. Navy retired, 72, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Don was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. He was born June 22, 1940 in Mercedes, Texas to Donald William and Owena Stone Taylor. He graduated from Muleshoe High School in 1958 and the United States Naval Academy in 1964. He also attended the Naval Post Graduate School and Texas Tech University. He was a 20 year U. S. Navy Vietnam veteran and naval aviator flying the A-4 and the A-7. He flew over 260 combat missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with Combat “V” and the Purple Heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Angelica Tijerina Taylor of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sons, John (Robin) Taylor of San Diego, California and Donald (Holly) Taylor, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas; his daughter, Laura Ellen Taylor and her spouse, Or Rogovin of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania; his sister, Sandra (Pat) Childers of Cody, Wyoming; five grandchildren, John Taylor, Jr., Evan Taylor, Kai Taylor, Benjamin Rogovin and Gabriella Grace Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9 A.M. until 11 A.M. Friday, December 21, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services with full military honors will be conducted at Noon, Friday, December 21, 2012 at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. Burial will follow.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to the Vietnam Veterans of America, www.vva.org.

Sally Nannette Potter

Potter, Sally

Sally Nannette Potter, 73 of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away December 16, 2012. She was born July 21, 1939 in Fort Edward, New York to Floyd Warren Bruso and Florence Ada Carpenter Bruso.

Sally was very active at Annaville Baptist Church and sang in the church choir. She was always writing notes of encouragement to her family and friends. Sally enjoyed crocheting and giving gifts to her friends.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Gary Potter of Corpus Christi, Texas; sons, Gary (Tara) Potter, Jr. of Gulf Breeze, Florida, James (Roxanne) Potter of Corpus Christi, Texas, Brian (Stephanie) Potter of Katy, Texas; sisters, Janet Williams of New Jersey, Carol McGowan of Marianna, Florida, Christine Ward of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Angela (Cody) Speegle of Corpus Christi, Texas, Gary Potter, III of San Antonio, Texas, Shelbilyn Potter of Corpus Christi, Texas, Taylor Potter of Sandia, Texas; great grandson, Cameron Speegle.

Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 12:30 P.M. at the Annaville Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Annaville Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.

Santa Isabel Carela

Carela, SantaSanta Isabel Carela, 32, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Friday, December 7, 2012.  She was born June 18, 1980 in the Dominican Republic.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lucas Carela and her aunt, Luz Maria Silvestre.

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Flora and Armando Luna of Corpus Christi, Texas; her sister and brother-in-law, Kenia and Joshua Bair of Corpus Christi, Texas; four brothers, Justan and Jeffrey Luna of Corpus Christi, Nathan Luna of Port Lavaca, Texas and Cory Luna of San Antonio, Texas; her nephews, Jovanni and Avery Bair; her cousins, Xiomara and Alicia.

Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until 5 P.M. Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be conducted at 7 P.M. Thursday, December 13, 2012 at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church on Violet Road with Rev. Msgr. Morgan Rowsome as celebrant.  Services will conclude at the church.

Marsha L. Reusser

Reusser, MarshaMarsha L. Reusser of Corpus Christi, Texas went to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the age of 67.  She was born on November 24, 1945 in Hutchinson, Kansas.  Marsha moved to Corpus Christi with her family in 1989.  She was employed at Dillard’s Department Store in customer service for 20 years before retiring January 1, 2010.  Her hobbies included supporting her husband and son in dirt track racing, she enjoyed Nascar racing, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, never missed episodes of Wheel of Forture, and spending quality time with her grandchildren.

She goes home to the Lord to reunite with her parents, Audie and Marcie Curry.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Cliff Reusser of Corpus Christi, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Sarah Reusser of Corpus Christi, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Mike Hill of Great Bend, Kansas; three brothers, Dennis Curry of Topeka, Kansas, Mark Curry of Rogers, Arkansas and Rick Curry of Hutchinson, Kansas; five grandchildren and two step grandchildren.

Memorial services are pending and will be at a later date.
