Francisca F. Gonzalez, 64, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014. She was born November 2, 1949 in Snyder, Texas. She was a lifetime and active member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Ruiz Flores and Felipa Gonzales Flores; her brothers, Joe Flores, Jr. and Donaciano G. Flores, Sr.; her sister, Concepcion Valdez; and her husband, Fructoso A. Gonzalez.

She is survived by her son, Jose Flores and his wife, Destina; her daughter, Maxine Gonzalez-Clark and her husband A J; five grandchildren, Serena Flores, Jose-Daniel Flores, Jaydon Jose Gonzalez, Eliana Francine Flores and Abrianna Angeline Gonzalez-Clark; her brother, David G. Flores; her sisters, Irene F. Barrios, Maria Perez, Angelita Lozano-Sifuentes, Josie (Raul) Martinez and Felipa (Johnny) Pena; her companion, Hijinio DeLeon; numerous nieces and nephews.

The Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 9 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 7 P.M. Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Viewing will begin at 9 A.M. and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Monday, March 31, 2014 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Martha Alice Vanderslice

Vanderslice, Martha

Martha Alice Vanderslice went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2014. She was born October 23, 1941 to Earnest and Laurie Callaway in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Martha graduated from Texas A & I University Cum Laude. She taught at Calallen ISD for thirteen years and Orange Grove ISD. Prior to becoming a teacher she was a waitress at Ship Ahoy Restaurant for twelve years. She loved Bingo, playing cards, games, crafts and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Laurie Callaway.

She is survived by her husband of fifty years Charles Vanderslice; children, Kyle (Charmaine) Rowlett, Tammy (George) Davis, Johnny (Lisa) Vanderslice; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 31, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.

Robert (Bob) Lee Evans

Evans, Robert

Robert (Bob) Lee Evans, 86, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on March 26, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on January 10, 1928 in El Dorado, Kansas to Lorn and Marie Evans. He grew up in north central Kansas and there met Vesta Barnum of Glasco, Kansas. They were married June 6, 1948 shortly after Bob completed his military service in the United States Navy. Bob and Vesta moved to South Texas in 1952 while he was working for Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America. He retired in 1986 after 36 years of service. They then moved to a retirement village in Bella Vista, Arkansas where Bob was an avid golfer and gardener. He and Vesta enjoyed lots of traveling in their motor home and overseas. In 2009 they moved to Corpus Christi to be near family. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, and his passion was his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was actively involved with his 3 sons in boy scouting and sports activities in their youth. Bob was a strong Christian man and member of Grace United Methodist Church of Corpus Christi.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vesta: his daughter, Kathy Koch of San Antonio, Texas: and his sons, Mark (Rita) Evans of Portland, Texas, Marty (Carol) Evans and David (Peggy) Evans of Corpus Christi, Texas: nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Don Evans of San Diego, California.

The family would like to thank Girling Hospice, and especially hospice nurse Bethany Wanoreck for their care and comfort during Bob’s final days.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church located at 14521 Northwest Boulevard. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 14521 Northwest Boulevard, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Shirley Mae Hopkins (Loehrke)

Hopkins, ShirleyShirley Mae Hopkins (Loehrke) passed away March 24, 2014 after an extended illness.

She was born in Greenville, WI on September 13, 1940 and served as a WAC in the United States Army. Shirley enjoyed her time listening to music, her beloved pets, Snickers and Lucky and baking sweets for the neighbor’s kids.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Robert D. Hopkins.

Shirley is survived by her three children, Justin Murphy, Cherylyn (Don) Boyd, Beverley (Mike) Douglass; eight grandchildren; Nicholas, Kelby (April), and Murphy Bridwell, Devin, Trevor, and Cade Boyd, and Michael, and Matthew Murphy; five brothers, Ken (Mary) Loehrke, Tom (Joan) Loehrke, Neil Loehrke Freischmidt, Jim, Randy and six sisters, Judy (Jesus) Ortega, Betty Rammer, Sharon (Bob) Ebben, Patti (Larry) Steward, Jeanette (Nigel) Allen and Tina Miller.

Shirley is also survived by nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church, 14521 Northwest Blvd., Corpus Christi, Texas.

Burial will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Monday March 31, 2014.

Vicky Salsman

Salsman, Vicky

Vicky Salsman, beloved mother, wife and friend to many, passed away March 20, 2014 at the age of 59. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, the daughter of Ronald and Grace Freeman. She graduated from Tuloso-Midway High School in 1975. She married Patrick Salsman in 1977.

Vicky was a stay-at-home Mom and enjoyed many hobbies. Her sense of humor and genial attitude made it easy for people to immediately like her. She loved her dogs and her family. She was a loving and dedicated mother. She will be sorely missed.

Vicky is survived by her husband Patrick; son, James Salsman and daughter, Tamara Salsman.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014.

from 3:00P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. on Tuesday March 25, 2014 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
