Richard Earl Shurley

Richard Earl Shurley entered into God’s presence on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his wife, children, and family.

He was the husband of Judith Ann Shurley. They shared over 20 wonderful years together. He was a father to five daughters and five son-in-laws, and grandfather to three grandchildren who were all blessed by his love, wisdom, and guidance.

Richard was born the eldest of two children in Uvalde, TX on November 3, 1946 to Walter Thomas Shurley and Muryle LaVerne Shurley. He received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Texas A&M Kingsville and Master of Science degree from Texas A&I Corpus Christi.

He was a professor of Automotive Mechanics at Del Mar College for over forty years. Richard was an entrepreneur, mentor, teacher, expert marksmen, archer, gunsmith, craftsman, fisherman and more than anything, he was a man of great faith.

Richard was also a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He served as trustee of the church, Sunday school teacher, leader in the men’s bible study, organizer of the Men’s Service Ministry and helped in many other ministries.

He is survived by beloved wife Judy Shurley, daughters Belinda Phillips (Bryan Phillips), April Skoruppa, Laura Satrum (Aaron Satrum), Nicki Dooms (Ryan Dooms), Mary Ann Lozano (Omar Lozano), grandchildren, Walter Skoruppa, Mark Shurley, and Molly Grace Lozano, sister Sharon Shurley Rose, sister-in-law Patsy Granhold, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Muryle Shurley and father W. T. Shurley.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 11:00 am at the Grace United Methodist Church. A visitation and luncheon for family and friends will follow the service. Memorial donations can be made to the Grace United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.

 

Cole McNeese

McNeese, Cole

Cole McNeese, 23, son of Darrell and Lanni McNeese, brother of Hannah McNeese passed away on November 10, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mary Frances and Gilbert Weber McNeese.

He is survived in addition to his parents and sister, his maternal grandmother, Nancy Kramer; his maternal grandfather, Blair E. Smith (Libby); his aunts and uncles, Larry McNeese, Kathy Taylor, Ronnie McNeese, Debbie McNeese, Terri Goodman and George Kramer, III.

Visitation with the family will be one hour before the funeral service.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Ram Lopez officiating. Burial will follow in Robstown Memorial Park.

Richard Lewis “R.L.” Wright

Richard Lewis “R.L.” Wright passed away November 11, 2016 at Southwind Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Crowley, LA at the age of 87.

He was born in San Antonio, TX, December 23, 1928 to George and Myrtle Lorrillard Wright. He attended school in Von Ormy and Somerset, TX.  In 1942, at the age of 14, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served until he was honorably discharged in 1946.

  1. L. was married to Lodell Boultinghouse on February 23, 1945. Together they had two children. They made their home in Agua Dulce, TX until 1964 when they moved to Crowley, LA. They were married 55 years when Lodell passed away.

Most of his working life was spent working in the oil and gas industry. He retired from Occidental Petroleum as Division Production Superintendent.  When not working, he enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting and traveling.

R.L. was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Recently he received the honor of having been a member for 65 years.  He was also a proud member of the American Legion for many years.

He is survived by his daughter, Kaye Hall and her husband, Carroll of Crowley, LA; his son, Tim Wright and his wife, Karen of Katy, TX; two grandchildren, Kelly (Chris) Pagonis and Travis Wright; his nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; five brothers; two sisters; and many other loved ones and friends.

His family wishes to thank the entire staff and the residents of Southwind for caring for and loving him during his stay with them.

Visitation will be at Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Calallen, TX on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Immediately followed by a Masonic Rites graveside at 1:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Odem, TX.

Roberto Lichtenberger

Roberto Lichtenberger, age 63 of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away November 10, 2016. He was born May 11, 1953 in Freer, Texas to Lionel and Margarita Lichtenberger.

Roberto was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Lamar Lichtenberger. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Lichtenberger; sons, Robert (Marisol) Lichtenberger and Joel (Shannon) Lichtenberger; siblings, Lionel Lichtenberger, Felipita Colmenero, Richard (Melba) Lichtenberger, Juan Antonio “Tony” (Melinda) Lichtenberger; grandchildren, Efrain, Aaliyah, Lance, Ariana, Emily and Alyssa.

Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church with Rev. Patrick Serna as celebrant.

Burial services will be private.

Celeste Harrison

Celeste Harrison, 90, of La Vernia, Texas, passed with peace and grace on Saturday, October 29, 2016 with family at her side.

Born 1926 in Houston, TX, Celeste was the daughter of John B. and Lucille Frazier. Celeste married John Thomas Harrison Jr. and enjoyed 59 years of marriage in Corpus Christi before his passing in 2002.

A woman of sharp-wit, quiet strength and unwavering dedication to family, Celeste loved to garden and enjoyed growing her own fruits and vegetables to can and preserve, to make jams and jellies and even to concoct her own wines. She took immense pleasure in teaching her daughters to garden, cook, bake, sew and crochet, and that with a little hard work, anything can be accomplished.

Celeste is survived by her three daughters Pennye (Danny) Duewall of Midland, Amy (James) Wagner of La Vernia and Connie (Ray) Covey of Austin; grandchildren Billy Duewall, Clint Duewall, Jamie Wagner, Thomas Wagner, Jason Abernethy, Lindsay Covey Dennis and Lacy Covey Hoysradt; and five great grandchildren.

Celeste is preceded in death by her parents John B. and Lucille Frazier; husband John Thomas Harrison Jr.; and brother John Boyd Frazier.

The funeral service will be held graveside at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Corpus Christi, TX, at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 5, 2016.
