Robert Charles Jones, Sr.

Robert Charles Jones, Sr., unexpectedly left this life to be with the Lord on November 27, 2017 in Calallen, Texas.

Robert was born in Montgomery, Alabama on June 18th, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Sylvia Jones; sister, Linda Underdown; and brother in-law, Michael Martin.

He will be missed dearly by his loving wife, Bettina “Tina”; children, Robert Charles Jr., Jeremy, Jacob (Lindsay); grandson, Miller;  sister,  Shirley (Ed) Busby; sister in-law, Donna Quintanilla and many nieces & nephews.

Robert was a loving husband to Tina for 44 years. He was quick to tell anyone that he was fortunate to have her as his wife.

Robert was an amazing man with a tender heart who loved and cared for his family and enjoyed hunting, cooking on the grill, sitting on the back porch and watching NASCAR & football. He was a football fan who enjoyed attending Texas A&M (Jacob’s Alma Mater) football games with his family.  Robert loved sparring back & forth with Robert Charles & Jeremy about sports, especially A&M football.  He was an avid hunter who enjoyed spending time with his friends & sons at the deer lease.  Robert took pride in coaching all three of his sons throughout the years of Little League Baseball. He was an amazing friend who was never at a loss to make you laugh with his quick wit and one-of-a-kind one liners. Robert was like a Dad to many of Jacob’s friends.  As a new Grandpa, Robert was extremely proud of his grandson Miller, the newest addition to the family.  He constantly talked about Miller, showing his pictures and bragging about him to everyone, and loved to FaceTime talk with him.

Robert was a First Class machinist employed by EnDyn in Alice, Texas for the last 15 years and at Dixie Iron Works for the 30 years prior. He was a man dedicated to his trade. Robert graduated from Miller High School and joined the National Guard shortly after. One of his earlier passions was driving stock cars. He, together with his father, built, drove and managed his hobby and modified cars while racing at CC Speedway and Cuddihy Raceway.

Jacob Brian Rogers

Jacob Brian Rogers, age 33, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away November 23, 2017. Jacob was born September 28, 1984 in Long Beach, California to Johnny and Patricia Rogers.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Gerald J. Nothnagel and his grandparents, James Leonard and Mary Evelyn Rogers.

Jacob is survived by his mother, Trish Rogers and his father, Johnny Rogers; his brother and sister-in-law, Steven Lee and Kimberly Rogers; his grandmother, Marilyn Nothnagel; nieces and nephews, Christina Rogers, Emma Rogers, Melissa Rogers, Bradlee Rogers, and Gregory Rogers.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 12 noon until 2:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday in the Sawyer-George Chapel with Ralph Martinez officiating.

Burial will follow in the Robstown Memorial Park.

David Lynn Oden

Oden, David

David Lynn Oden, 62, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017. He was born January 10, 1955 in Levelland, Texas to Raleigh Louis and Wanda Rozelle Mitchell Oden.  He attended Calallen schools and graduated from Tuloso-Midway High School.  He showed the grand champion sheep one year in the Nueces County Junior Live Stock Show.  He had worked for Quality Machine and Miller’s Bar Be Que.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing and the Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his father, R. L. Oden.

He is survived by his mother, Wanda Rozelle Oden; his sister, Susan (Gary) Sharpe; his brother, Matt (Wendy) Oden; nieces and nephews, Amber, Samantha, Raleigh, Cheston and Grace.

Visitation will be from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, December 1, 2017 at Robstown Memorial Park Cemetery. Burial will follow.

The family would like to especially thank the Northwest Villa where he resided for their love and wonderful care of David.

Mary Ruth Lawson

 

Lawson, RuthMary Ruth Lawson, 90, a longtime resident of Odem, Texas, and recently from Clute, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 in the hospital in Lake Jackson, Texas. She was born July 16, 1927 in Joplin, Missouri. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, granny and friend to many. While living in Falfurrias, Texas she began her long years of service in various hospital auxiliaries and Weight Watchers, as well as community service. Ruth was an active member of Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin, MO and the First Baptist Churches of  Falfurrias,  Friendswood, Longview and Odem, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Neva Owen; her husband, Calvin; four sisters, Evelyn Brinson, Annie Case, Barbara Leaf and Peggy Owen; and one brother, Edward Owen; and one daughter, Brenda Wostal.

She is survived by her two sisters, Pat Williams of Joshua, Texas and Sally Norwood of Joplin, Missouri; her daughters, Patsy, (Tim) Eichholtz of Tomball, Texas, Frances Lundy of Clute, Texas; her son, Calvin (Joni) Lawson of Katy, Texas; a son-in-law, Buddy Wostal of Corpus Christi, Texas; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home; 12497 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, Texas. The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the First Baptist church in Odem, Texas with Pastor Willis Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Odem, Texas

Lesli Ramey McGuire

Lesli Ramey McGuire, 66, passed away November 21, 2017. She was born August 29, 1951 in Dallas, Texas to Myron and Lela Ramey.  She was raised in Corpus Christi where she graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 1969.  After high school she went on to attend and graduate from the University of Texas in Austin with a major in English.  Throughout her lifetime she remained a member of the Texas Exes and a loyal fan of the Texas Longhorns.  Lesli was a school teacher for CCISD and Corpus Christi Christian School in the years before she married.  Lesli was a devoted member of the Morningside Drive Church of Christ in Alice, Texas where she raised her family.

Lesli was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Lee McGuire, Jr. as well as her sister, Lori Wilbur Dodson and her children, John McGuire, Andrea McGuire and Ashley Shoemake all of Corpus Christi.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas with Dale Wilson officiating.
