Elizabeth Ann “Sally” Wilkey

Elizabeth Ann “Sally” Wilkey was born August 20, 1937 in Edinburg, TX, to Elmer and Bessie Gillette. She passed away at home, with family by her side, in Berclair, TX on February 24, 2019 at 81 years old after a long battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.    She held many titles in her lifetime including Wife, Mom, Grandma, Nana, Nanny, Aunt Sally and best friend.    She loved being at the beach, playing dominoes and it brought her so much joy to spend her days with family and friends. She brought comfort, light and refuge to everyone around her (and baked a mean peach pie!). Sally was raised in Corpus Christi, TX.   She married Johnny on July 24, 1952 in Corpus Christi, TX. Sally worked at Kalediscope as well as Panache. In the mid 90’s, Sally and Johnny moved to the ranch in Berclair located in Goliad County. They enjoyed traveling and made many trips to Colorado on vacation and later to visit children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed but will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved and knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Wilkey; children, John Wilkey Jr., Rick Wilkey (Ronda), Teresa Gernandt (Dale), Kathy Larson (Steve), and Jeremy Wilkey (Chrystal). She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2019 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2727 Airline Road, Corpus Christi, TX.

Mary Lou Simmons, age 75, passed away on February 23, 2019, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Mary Lou was born on July 7, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Russell and Helen (Williamson) Davidson. Mary Lou retired from Tuloso-Midway Independent School District after many years of service. She enjoyed cheering on her grandchildren in their various activities. The highlight of her day was playing with her great granddaughters and getting to meet her great grandson. She also looked forward to visiting with her neighbors and playing bunco with the ladies.

She was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by her husband Ronald Simmons and by her parents, Helen and Russell Davidson.

Mary Lou is survived by daughters Debbie Miller (Don) of Webster, Texas and Brenda Wright (Rob) of Robstown, Texas, her sons, Michael Simmons of Friendswood, Texas and Todd Simmons of Violet, Texas. She has seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

The Funeral service celebrating Mary Lou’s life will be on Thursday, February 28, 2019, at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Emma Marguerite (Hercek) Roeder

Emma Marguerite (Hercek) Roeder passed away February 16, 2019. She was born June 15, 1923 on the Campana Ranch in Southwest McMullen County, Texas to Walter and Margaret Docekal Hercek and was raised in Robstown, Texas.

Marguerite married Benjamin Roeder (1919-2011) on October 21, 1945 and they were married for 66 years. Marguerite was a great cook & seamstress, and was the Church secretary and member of the Altar Society at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Robstown.   She worked for Production Credit Association in Robstown for 43 years and retired as Vice-President in 1983. Marguerite then worked at Petronilla Grain with Benny for another 10 years. They enjoyed traveling in the United States and Europe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin, two sisters, Aylene Dodds (1924-2019) and Edna Belle Walker (1926-1996).

Marguerite is survived by her children, Nancy (Tom) Guernsey, Benjamin Roeder,  granddaughter: Laura Cano, great grandson, Sean Cano and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Friday, March 1, 2019 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas with Rev. Gerard Sheehan as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Robstown Memorial Park.

Charles Kepatrick Orsak, 65, of Corpus Christi TX, passed away peacefully Friday, February 15th, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born April 4, 1953 in East Bernard. Texas to Bohumil Theophil Orsak and Annie B Orsak. He is preceded in death by his father, B.T. Orsak, sister, Annie Kelly, nephew, Scott Orsak and son-in-law, Jimmy J. Hickman Jr.  He is survived by his wife Helen M. Orsak, Mother, Annie B. Orsak, three children, Alan (Kynda) Orsak, Amanda Orsak, and Aaron Orsak. Five grandchildren,  Candice, Dylan, Leah, Easton and Emma, Siblings Jo Hilburn, Bernard Orsak, Robert Orsak, Bernice Hoyt and Sharon Howe, numerous nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones. Viewing will be at Sawyer-George funeral home on Monday, February 18th, 2019 from 3:00-7:00pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday February 19th, 2019 at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church.

June Lorraine Swanson

 

Swanson, JuneJune Lorraine Swanson, 92, of Corpus Christi, Texas was called home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2019 after a lengthy illness. She was born on June 16, 1926 in Miami, Florida. June was married to Arthur L. Swanson for 46 years until his death in 1998. They spent most of their lives serving the Lord on their farm in the Rio Grande Valley. They sold their farm in 1992 and moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where they spent the remainder of their marriage. June had a lifetime of service in the Ladies Aid Society in her church. She loved helping and serving people in her long career as a nurse. She loved life and cherished every moment with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents Lorraine and Zackary Thompson, her one

brother Durwood Thompson, and two sisters Gene Thomas and Hazel Kelly, all of

Florida. She is also preceded by her son in law, Kim W. Bradshaw of Corpus Christi, Texas. She is survived by her one daughter, Phyllis Bradshaw of Corpus Christi, Texas.

She is further survived by her grandchildren, Dwayne (Veda) McWhorter Sr., Jerry

McWhorter, Brad, Travis (Samantha), and Troy Bradshaw. Furthermore, she is survived by her great-grandchildren, Dwayne McWhorter Jr., Staci McWhorter, Hali (TC) Prather, Kristin McWhorter, Hunter McWhorter, Heather and Ryker Bradshaw, Steven (Carly) and Austin Bradshaw, and one great great grandson, Nicklaus Prather.

Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M., Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Annaville

Baptist Church with Bro. Robert Simmons officiating.

Burial will follow at RobstownMemorial Park.
