Eva Blacklock Dietz

Eva Blacklock Dietz, 97, passed away July 25, 2019 at her home in Corpus Christi.

She was born January 25, 1922 in Round Rock, Texas to Stephen and Ruby Meeks Vaden. Eva was the fifth daughter of six girls. Her father passed away when she was five and she lived in an orphanage, with a foster family and then with her grandmother over the following years until she met and married Van R. Blacklock. She lived a long, happy life with her first husband, Van R. Blacklock, who passed away in 1993 after 53 years of marriage. They had three sons, Gene W. Blacklock, Van L. Blacklock and Steven Blacklock . She later married Don G. Dietz and was married 22 years until he passed away this year, 2019. She had a variety of jobs, the last one being an office tech for Riverside Hospital, now Northwest Regional Center in Calallen. She was there for 20 years. She loved plants, flowers and birding. She went on many birding trips with, and took classes from her son, Gene Blacklock. She made many friends on these trips. She also made trips to California to see her older sisters and to New Mexico to see her younger sister, whom she was very close to.

Eva was a member of Annaville Baptist Church where most of her family attends and enjoyed being able to see family on a regular basis (especially the children). She had many friends at church.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, all of her sisters and one son, Steven Blacklock.

She is survived by two sons, Gene Blacklock, and Van (Dianne) Blacklock; two granddaughters, Becky (Allen) Menn, Brenda (Robert) Simmons; five great grandchildren, Chelsea (John) Mayo, Whitney (Alex) Pierce, Braden Menn, Bethany and Avery Simmons; four great great grandchildren, Brooks and Emilee Pierce, Riley and Weston Mayo.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 29, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2019 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Simmons officiating.  Private graveside services for the family will follow in the Sandia Cemetery where her first husband is buried in a family plot.

The family would like to thank some of the friends who have been so good to visit and support Eva including Ellen Munson, Sue Ahrens, Dava Williams, her former daughter-in-law, Dorothy Kimbell, Mary Naranjo, who cared for her for the past month, and her weekend caretaker, Rosemary Martinez.

Patsy Ruth Clubb

Patsy Ruth Clubb of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away at the age of 85 on Thursday, July 18, 2019. She was born on November 21, 1933 to Orville and Ellen Jarrett in Harlingen, Texas.

Patsy owned Stafford’s Western Ware. She was a correction officer at the Texas

Department of Justice, a March of Dimes Volunteer and involved in South Texas Trail Riders. Patsy graduated from what is now Miller High School.

Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Ellen Jarrett, daughter, Pam Moore; and grandson, Justin Stafford.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Toti of Washington State; children, Ross Stafford, Jr. (Kay), Connie Braden (Chris), Lyn-Dee Brandon (Stewart) of Corpus Christi, Texas and Carol Lee (Reagan) of Rockport, Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy Stafford (Amanda), Jarrett Erwin, Tonya Prather (Austin), Le Ann Sandoval (Vinnie), Stacey Florence (Greg), Candice Moore and Tamela Gutierrez; and fifteen great grandchildren

A Memorial Service will be conducted at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, July 22, 2019 at 1:00 P.M.

Janis Ligon

Janis Marie Ligon peacefully passed away on July 15, 2019. She was born in Cuero, Texas on November 10, 1934. She married D. Elmon Ligon in 1952. They were married for 53 years before his death in 2005.

Janis is survived by two daughters, Jeannene Arnold and Jeanette Hart and two sons, Jeff Ligon and Jon Ligon. She is also survived by a sister, Wanelle (Nellie) Ligon and nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Janis will be cremated and her ashes interned next to her husband in the Bluffton Cemetery in Bluffton, Texas in a private ceremony.

Kenneth Talley

Kenneth Talley ,age 88, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away July 14, 2019.

He was born on September 8, 1930 in Corpus Christi, Texas to James Marvin Talley and Verga Vereen Oaks Talley.

Kenneth was a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army and served in the Korean War where is was awarded the Combat Infantry Medal.  Kenneth was  a Master Mason of the Grand Lodge of Texas A.F.& A.M. Kenneth worked for Halliburton and retired from Centex and later worked for the Tuloso-Midway School District. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

He is survived by a brother, Malcolm Jeryl (Diane) Talley of Victoria, Texas; his sister, Mary Talley Forister of Houston, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday July 19, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rebekah Rochte of Grace United Methodist Church officiating.  Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery at 3:30 P.M.

Jennifer Rose Bremer Smith 1981-2019

Rose Smith, wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 12, 2019, after a sudden illness. When Rose entered a room, joy and laughter entered as well. Vivacious Rose had a marvelous gift for lifting everyone’s spirits and welcoming them with open arms. Her smile and energy were contagious, and life was always better with Rose around. Generous beyond measure, loving and thoughtful, her presence will be so greatly missed.

Rose was born on March 30, 1981, in Corpus Christi, TX to Richard and Mary Bremer. In 1989 she moved to Shreveport and attended Evangel Christian Academy; then moved to Dallas in 1996, graduating from Carrollton Christian Academy in 1999. She received her bachelor’s of Business Administration in Marketing and master’s degree in Secondary Education from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi in 2003 and 2004. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and their strong sisterhood continues today. Rose worked for Jacobs-Weber Insurance for 12 years managing a national program insuring emergency equipment and fire truck dealers in 40 states. She was a trusted resource for each of her clients and helped grow the business through her relationships. Rose married her soulmate Adam in 2015 and had their miracle baby, Charlotte Rose, in 2017. Although Rose and Adam only had a short time together, they shared a lifetime of eternal love and happiness.  They absolutely adored each other, and Charlotte Rose shall be forever endowed with her mother’s sweet loving spirit.

Rose is preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Bernice Rognmoe; and grandfather, Luverne Bremer. She is survived by her loving husband, Adam Smith; their 2 year-old daughter, Charlotte Rose; parents, Richard and Mary Bremer; sister, Christine Lipscomb (Josh); grandmother, Esther Bremer; and nieces, Waverly, Violet and Chase Lipscomb. Rose is also survived by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shae and D.J. Smith; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kelsey and Skylar Smith; along with many other family and friends.

Visitation services for Rose will take place on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Sawyer George Funeral Home, 12497 Leopard St, Corpus Christi, TX, 78410 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church, 14521 Northwest Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX, 78410 at 10:00 am with Pastor Mark Porterfield. Honorary pallbearers are Bryce Alexander, Ryan Baggett, Pat Hull, Josh Lipscomb, J.T. Maddox IV, Chris McFaddin, Tommy Najvar, Berry Peterson, Kelsey Smith and Brian Tiller.

Memorial donations in memory of Rose may be made to the Wesley Community Center, P. O. Box 7099, Corpus Christi, TX 78467-7099.
