Thomas Raymond “Tommy” Ermis

Thomas Raymond “Tommy” Ermis, 76, of Agua Dulce, Texas passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in a San Antonio hospital. He was born March 9, 1943 in Alice, Texas to Anton, Jr. and Edith Havelka Ermis.  He was a retired farmer. Tommy was a member of the Board of Directors of Nueces Electric Co-Op for 42 years from 1977 until the present time, was the President of NEC from 2005 until 2011, and was currently the Assistant Secretary-Treasurer.  He was the representative for NEC on the Board of Directors of South Texas Co-Operative from 2002 until the present time, and on the Board of Directors of Smith Gin from 1993 until February, 2019. He was active with the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show for 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Linda.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Lynn (Hahn) Ermis of Agua Dulce, Texas; his son, Glen and wife Monett Ermis of Orange Grove, Texas; his daughters, Theresa Kunz and husband Phil of Salado, Texas and Valorie Reynolds and husband David of Addington, Oklahoma: grandsons, Holt Ermis, Ty Ermis, Clayton Kunz, Katie Kunz, John Riggs, Olivia Riggs and Chase Kunz.  He is also survived by one brother, Mike Ermis; and one sister, Gracie Bailey.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Friday, November 1, 2019 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Daniel Canonge officiating. Services will conclude in the chapel.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Hahn, Trent Smith, Coy Smith, Mitchell Flagg, Todd Otahal, Ben Otahal, Holt Ermis, Ty Ermis and Clayton Kunz.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nueces Electric Cooperative (NEC) Board of Directors and South Texas Electric Cooperative (STEC) Board of Directors, James and Mona Hahn, Michael and Potsie Fowler, John and Rose Sims and Robert Serna.

Howard Michael Beers

Howard Michael Beers, a treasured friend to many, was born February 20, 1949 in Newton, New Jersey to the late Helen and Elmer Beers, Jr. He passed away peacefully October 26, 2019 after losing his battle with cancer.

Howard proudly served in the Navy (1968-1972), was active in the boy scout community for many years, and was enjoying retirement after being employed at Corpus Christi Army Depot for 30+ years.

Howard loved his dogs, cold (or free) beer, good barbeque, being outdoors when the weather was nice, his friends and family, and classic country music. He especially loved all of those together at the same time.

Howard is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Rick Beers and Jerry Beers; his wife, Kathleen Ann Huntsinger Beers; and many of his beloved dogs. He will be dearly missed by his in-laws, John and Carol Huntsinger; his siblings, Sue Van Eeckhoven, Elmer “Junie” Beers III, and Holly Beers; his children, Joey (Shelley) Beers, John (Gina) Beers, Jason (Christine) Beers, Chris (Ashley) Beers, and Sarah Beers; grandchildren Zoe, Julien, Haley, Landen, Tommy, and Mikey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His memorial service will be conducted at Sawyer-George Funeral Home, Friday, November 8, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. with burial to follow at the Coastal Bend State Veteran’s Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Memorial gifts may be made to The Boy Scouts of America or to a local pet shelter.


Isabel Contreras

Isabel Contreras passed away October 26, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. David and Anita Espurvoa, her husband of 60 years, Oscar Contreras, sister and brothers and a grandson, Davis L. Urquizo.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra (Stanley) Oliver, Linda (Rey) Urquizo, Liza (Jerry) Contreras-Robles; grandchildren, Rey (Mari) Urquizo, Jr., Jose Oscar (Christina) Estringel, Amanda Estringel (Javi), Roberto Estringel, Jr., Jesica Urquizo; three great granddaughters, five great grandsons and one great great grandson.

Viewing will be on Wednesday, October 30. 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home with a funeral service from 7:30 to 8:00 P.M.

She will be buried with our father, Oscar Contreras at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 11 A.M. on Thursday, October 31, 2019.

Lois June Barton

Lois June Barton, 81, gained her heavenly wings on October 22, 2019. She was born on October 13, 1938. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Ross & Edna Coles; her husband of 40 years, Frank Eugene Barton; sisters, Bernice Barker and Evelyn Andres; grandchildren, Jennifer Rene Barton and Kollyn Gene Barton; great grandchildren, Hadley Dean Barton and Payson Sage Allison. Lois is survived by her sons, Ronnie (Sue) Barton of Seadrift, TX, Erick (Barbie) Barton of Mathis TX, Jerry (Karen) Barton of Ardmore, OK, Sam (Billie) Barton of Ingleside TX, 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren. She graduated from Arnett, Oklahoma High School. Lois married her high school sweetheart, Frank Eugene Barton, on March 7, 1956, and they moved to Robstown in 1967. They owned Barton’s Bookkeeping and had the H&R Block office for 18 years. Lois was a member of First Baptist Church of Robstown where she often played the piano, and a member of River Hills Baptist Church before moving to Ardmore, Oklahoma in 2009. Visitation with the family will be from 2 pm until 4 pm Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Sawyer- George Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be conducted at 10 am Monday, October 28, 2019 at Robstown Memorial Park Mausoleum.


Scotty Rabalais

Scotty Rabalais, age 77 of Corpus Christi, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019 at St. Gabriel Memory Care after a long battle with Alzheimers. He was born August 25, 1942 in Corpus Christi, TX to Lurry James Rabalais and Bette Jane Scott Rabalais.  He was a resident of Corpus Christi for 77 years.  He worked in his grandfather’s and father’s business, Scott Electric Company for many years as well as the oil field industry.  In 1984, he worked for Rabalais I&E Constructors as the  Vice President of Sales.  Scotty was a jack of all trades, but his favorite job was being a professional fishing guide.  When he wasn’t fishing with customers, he loved to take his family and grandchildren for a trip on his boat.  He was a hardworking man and a gentleman who lived with passion and enjoyed each day to the fullest.  Scotty was always the life of the party.  He will be remembered as a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather and a faithful friend.

Scotty is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Francile Rabalais, his parents, and siblings Barbara Rabalais and Raymond Rabalais. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Hill (husband, Bobby) of Corpus Christi, Mike Rabalais of Port Aransas; five grandchildren, Scott Hill, Kyle Hill, Alex Rabalais, Kolton Hughes and Maggie Rabalais.

Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday Oct. 15th, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, TX.
