Aida M Chapa

December 8, 1950 — July 3, 2025

Corpus Christi

Aida M. Chapa, a devoted wife, mother, Nana, great-Nana, and woman of deep faith, passed away on July 3rd, 2025, at the age of 74 in Harlingen, Texas.

She was born on December 8th, 1950, in Edinburg, Texas, to her biological parents, Genaro Martinez and Eusebia Mendosa, and was raised with love by Guadalupe Rivera and Maria Guadalupe Rivera.

Guided by her devotion to God and love for her family, she lived a life defined by generosity, grit, and grace. She was the kind of person who gave without hesitation, supported without complaint and loved without limits. Aida worked tirelessly to provide for those she loved - often putting everyone else’s needs before her own. Much of this time was spent at Haggar's and later at Transcentric, where her work ethic and determination helped support her entire family.

She loved crocheting beautiful blankets, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, and doting on her dogs. She rarely missed a good telenovela and loved cooking meals that brought everyone together. Her presence was a source of comfort, humor, and unconditional love. She had a quiet strength, a sharp wit, and a sass that kept everyone on their toes - and smiling.

She was preceded in death by Rylan Olvera.

To cherish her memory, Aida leaves behind her husband, David Chapa, and her three children: Dionisio Romo and his wife Robin Romo, Beatrice Romo, and Xavier Leal and his wife Kammie Leal. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Trey Romo, Alyson Romo and her husband Tony Cortina, Rebecca Romo, Krystal Olvera, Tom Olvera and his wife Stephanie Olvera, Frank Salinas, Nicole Salinas, and Naomi Salinas and her husband Victor Villarreal Jr. She is also survived by her 12 great-grandchildren Oliver Cortina, Luna Cortina, Jovanni Martinez, Azyrianna Romo, Isaiah Vaughn, Isabella Vaughn, Lennox Olvera, Caiden Olvera, Jacob Salinas, Kimberly Villarreal, Kathleen Villarreal, and Kevin Villarreal.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, surrounded by light and held in the arms of the Lord she so faithfully served.

She will be remembered for her laughter, her generosity, and the quiet strength that made her the rock of the family.
