On Friday, December 30, 2022, Antonino Peter Lombardo (Tony) beloved, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away after a seven-year battle with cancer. He was 73 years old, born to Rosario and Maria Lombardo in Salemi, Sicily. The family immigrated to the United States in 1954. Tony was very proud to become a United States citizen in 1959. He grew up in Natick, Massachusetts and loved his family and Italian culture. Tony served in the U. S. Navy from 1968 to 1976. He was patriotic and was proud of his military service. Tony had a love of airplanes and worked on the Naval T44 pilot training planes as an Avionics Technician for 25 years. After retirement, he became a Notary Public. Tony was outgoing and never met a stranger, so he thrived and enjoyed his work. Tony loved being with his family, watching football and birdwatching. He loved his life. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susie; sons, Robert (Julie), Daniel (Melissa); his sister, Anna (Dave); and his grandchildren, Haleigh, Ragan, Nathaniel and Alyssa. Services will be held at Sawyer-George Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Corpus Christi Food Bank or the Gulf Coast Humane Society. Pallbearers will be: Nathaniel Lombardo, Michael Fenton, Michael Owens, Albert Rodriguez, Kevin Cooley, Tony Tanner, Dr. Robert Pankey, and Jim Woosley.
