Barbara Ann Lowe - Obituary

In Loving Memory

Barbara Ann Lowe was born on the 11th October 1942 in Passaic NJ, to parents William F Lange and Evelyn Dorothy Baird. She was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother. On the 12th September 2025, she went home to be with the Lord.

Barbara was raised in Stamford/Springdale Connecticut with brothers William (Bill), John, and sister Sue. She graduated from Stamford High school in May 1960 and received her BS in Nursing from Wagner College on Staten Island in May 1964.

She married Jim Gerberding and relocated to Corpus Christi in 1970, and raised her 2 sons, Eric and Craig Gerberding as a single mother until meeting and marrying Jim Lowe in July 1982. At this time her family grew to include Cindy (Lowe) Landcaster, and Sheldon and John Lowe.

She was a Christian and strong believer and loved participating in her Bible study group.

Her character and nature is best described as intelligent, dedicated, caring, selfless, and of having a great sense of humor.

She had a love of reading, news, and continuous learning. There was always an ongoing book within reach of her favorite chair, and important clippings to be stored away for future use.

She loved animals, and cats in particular. There are clear memories that whenever sitting in her favorite chair, she always had a cat in her lap.

Thru her 40+ year working career as an Operating Room Nurse at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, and Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, she was highly valued for her work ethic and dedication.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Dorothy Baird, her Father, William Frederick Lange, her sister, Susan Joan Needham, and her husband Jim Lowe. She is survived by son, Eric Baird Gerberding and wife Michel Gerberding, her son Craig Thomas Gerberding and wife Shanna Gerberding, her stepdaughter Cindy Landcaster and husband Russel Landcaster, her stepson Sheldon Lowe and wife Anna Lowe, and her stepson John Lowe. She is survived by brothers William (Bill) Lange and wife Bonny Lange, and John Lange and wife Sue Lange. She also leaves behind much loved grandchildren: Joshua Gerberding, Lauren Gerberding, Kristian Gerberding, Jacob Gerberding, Aaron Gerberding, Andrew Gerberding, Micah Gerberding, Sarah Landcaster, Jenny Landcaster, Katie (Lowe) Walker, Chris Lowe, and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

The family wishes to recognize and thank the Discovery Village at Alliance Town Center community. Our Mother, and we, greatly value the friendships, care, and support over the last 3+ years.

A memorial and grave-side service will be held in Corpus Christi on the 20th of September to celebrate Barbara’s life and honor her memory. Funeral arrangements are being coordinated thru Sawyer- George Funeral Home, 12497 Leopard St. Corpus Christi, TX 78410.
