Bernard Adickes, Sr., age 74, passed away September 26, 2019. He was born June 30, 1945 in Meyersville, Texas to Roland and Elfie Adickes. Bernard enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of eighteen, served a tour in Vietnam and was honorably discharged after four years. He moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1969 to begin his career as a diesel mechanic before working as a pipefitter. He loved to hunt, fish, spend time with his family and watch the Houston Astros and Dallas Cowboys. He was preceded in death by his father, Roland Adickes and his mother, Elfie Adickes. Bernard is survived by his wife, Evona Adickes, his son, Bernard Adickes, Jr. (Lisa) of Corpus Christi, Texas; his stepdaughter, Shawn Walston (Joe) of Paint Rock, Texas; his grandchildren, Ashley and Amber Adickes of Corpus Christi, Texas, Elizabeth Stephens (Mark) of Benbrook, Texas, Joe Walston (Reba) of Paint Rock, Texas and his great-grandchildren, Trystian Walston, Harlee Stephens, Jakob and Luke Walston. He is also survived by four sisters, Vyrna Noack (Buddy) of Cuero, Texas, Connie Leck (Gus) of Thomaston, Texas, Dot Hoffman (Jerry) of Lindenau, Texas, Shirley Nelson (Larry) of Meyersville, Texas and many nieces and nephews that are very close to his heart. Visitation will be on Monday, September 30, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
