Carl R. Grizzell, 80, of Corpus Christi, Texas went to be with his Lord on January 7th, 2022. He was born November 16th, 1941, in Plainview, Texas and lived in Corpus Christi since 1980. He was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and member of the Riverside Church of Christ in Calallen, Tx since moving to Corpus Christi.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl Edgar Grizzell and Odie Marie Grizzell.
He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Barbara Grizzell, and sons Shannon Grizzell (Michelle) of San Antonio, Texas, and Chris Grizzell (Amanda) of York, Pennsylvania. Grandchildren include Joshua Grizzell, Farrin Grizzell, Tristan Grizzell, Hunter Grizzell, Lily Grizzell, Skylur Grizzell, Atikin Harrison and Alicia Harrison.
Carl served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and had a life-long pride in his service. He always wore a veteran’s cap. After serving, he went to work at Southwestern Bell where he worked as a lineman, repairman, crew manager, and many other positions before finally retiring as a fleet manager in 2000. After retiring he worked as a home inspector, including time working with FEMA during hurricane recovery in Louisiana and Florida.
Carl was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent his time RV camping, fishing and working in the yard. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. When you met Carl, you always parted as friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 12th, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Services will be held at Sawyer George Funeral Home Thursday, January 13th, at 1:00 PM. Graveside service with military honors with be held at 2:00 PM at Corpus Christi State Veterans Cemetery.
