Charlotte Byerly

Charlotte M. Byerly, age 83, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Tuesday morning, March 15, 2011. She was born May 6, 1927 in San Patricio, Texas to Hugh and Elizabeth McCown. She was a fourth generation Texan and descendant of the original San Patricio colonists. Charlotte graduated as valedictorian of her class from Mathis High School in 1944. She also attended Incarnate Word College, Southwest Texas State and Texas A & I University. In 1946 she married the love of her life, Maurice Ray "Snooky" Byerly at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in San Patricio, Texas. They were married for 49 1/2 years and raised three children together. She taught school for over 30 years. The first two at Violet and the remainder at St. John's School in Robstown. Charlotte was very involved at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church where she had many friends over the years. She was involved in many civic and religious organizations throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maurice Byerly, her parents, her siblings, Marie, J.H., Harold, Orville, Irene, Inez and Paul. She leaves behind her two sons, Daniel Byerly and James (Jennifer) Byerly; daughter, Mary Katherine Davis; sisters-in-law, Elaine McCown and Alma Phillips; grandchildren, Shawn (Colleen) Byerly, Kerry (Donna) Byerly, Bridget (Toby) Smith, Bryan Davis, Sharla Davis, Jennifer (Jimmy) Willden, Megan (Tre) Mackey, James Ryan (Roxanne) Byerly, Allison Byerly; great grandchildren, Kelly, Kaitlin, Jacob, Casey, Kyle, Kendall, Riley, Kate, Dominic, Kylan, Kaylem, Peyton; great great granddaughter, Madison Rae Byerly. The Rosary will be recited on Friday. March 18, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Morgan Rowsome as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in San Patricio, Texas. Pallbearers will be Kerry Byerly, Bryan Davis, Mike McCown, Jacob Byerly, James Ryan Byerly and Jimmy Willden. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jessie Laing, Richard Magee, Sammy Maldanado and all of her nephews. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church.
