Obituary

Dora Coleen Stephens, nee Isaac, was born December 18, 1930, in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, to Basil (Badge) Lindhurst and Livina Jane Baugh Isaac. She entered Heaven’s gates to receive her eternal reward July 8, 2026, at the age of 95 years.

At her birth, she joined an older sister Patsy and half brother JC Heath. The family soon moved to Corpus Christi, Tx., where Badge found work on the docks. The family enjoyed a happy life together as the girls grew. Coleen graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1948 and soon began work at the telephone company. She met Ronald (Steve) Stephens, who was stationed at Corpus Christi in the Navy at the time. While dating a friend of Coleen, Steve soon saw that Coleen was the one for him. The couple was married February 20, 1953, by Rev. Theron Stephens (Steve’s father) at the First Baptist Church in Marble Falls where Bro. Stephens was pastor.

Returning to Corpus Christi, they soon started a family and were blessed with three boys, Mark, Ron and David. The family traded a used travel trailer for a little over 3.5 acres in the Calallen area and, in 1964, moved into the family home that Steve and his father built.

Coleen was very active in church activities and was instrumental in establishing RAWS in the rural Calallen area. She went door to door garnering support for this important fresh water infrastructure project that has been a great success for the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and half brother as well as her loving husband. She is survived by her sons, Mark (Dona) Stephens of Flatonia, Tx., Ron (Lyn) Stephens of Corpus Christi, Tx., and David (Sheri) Stephens of Huntsville Tx., grandchildren, Susie (Andy) Brown of Tomball, Tx., Troy (Tricia) Stephens of Victoria, Tx., Wesley Stephens of Corpus Christi, TX., Katelyn Stephens of Texarkana, Tx., Whitney (Jacob) Kubik of North Granby, Connecticut, Jessica (Ryan) Laube of Bedias, Tx., and 12 great grandchildren.
