Curtis Randall Colwell, who went by Randall all his life, passed away August 26, 2023 at the age of 79 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born to VM and Maebelle Colwell December 18, 1943 in Ajo, Arizona and is preceded in death by both parents. Randall is survived by his brother Gary Colwell, children Cliff Colwell and wife Kathy, Leah Colwell Harris and husband Corey, four grandchildren, Evan Colwell, Sydney Harris, Colton Harris, Juliana Harris.
Randall was a graduate of Mary Carroll High School. He enlisted with the Air Force as the Vietnam War began and spent his next years at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. He served until discharged following war time. Randall was employed at Dupont in Ingleside for many years while he started and enjoyed his young family. He took up instructing mechanics at Del Mar and then went on to work for McDonnell Douglas, who later became Boeing, until he retired. He built the family home in Flour Bluff between 1984 and 1987. He and his children take pride that he used only his two hands from start to finish. Randall loved working on his hot rods, most especially his prized possession, THE ’57 CHEVY. He loved car magazines, shows, and racing his beautiful black ’57. We are pretty sure he mostly loved revving it late at night for the neighbors and screeching those tires.
After his parents passed away, Randall moved back to the childhood home where he and Gary were reared. He was very close to his parents whom he had the utmost love and respect for. In his last years he spoke often of a happy reunion with his beloved parents and his mothers incredible home cooked meals. How he would love one of those! Randall asked about the grandkids often and what they were up to and always thought they were the best looking babies ever. He loved them and his children very much.
