David Garcia

August 14, 1942 — February 9, 2026

Leander

Born in 1942 to Jose Buenaventura Garcia and Aniseta Balboa, David’s roots were planted in the fields of Bishop, TX. Working alongside his family from a young age, he learned the values of hard work, dignity, and compassion that shaped his lifelong devotion to his family, faith, and community.

After graduating high school in 1963, he became a Marine and served during the Vietnam War. Though his service broadened his view of the world, he remained grounded in gratitude, humility, and love for others.

In 1968, he married the love of his life Maria Teresa Martinez at Christ the King Church (Corpus Christi). Together they shared 57 beautiful years of marriage and raised seven children. David was also blessed with nine grandchildren who filled his later years with pride and joy.

A true craftsman, David built his family’s first home with the help of relatives and friends in Calallen, Texas. He was a master plumber who worked at NAS Corpus Christi and in Saudi Arabia before opening his own plumbing business, Ana-Cal-5, and later continuing his work at the Naval Base. He served faithfully as a parishioner and member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Peter Prince of the Apostles in Annaville, St. Thomas the Apostle in Robstown, and St. Margaret Mary in Leander, generously giving of his time and talents to help create a strong and caring community.

In 2001, David moved with his family from Calallen (Corpus Christi) to the Austin area, where he made his home primarily in Cedar Park and Leander, Texas.

Throughout his life he found joy in the simplest blessings: admiring sunrises and sunsets, tending to his trees, the sight of a cardinal in flight, smelling the fragrance of flowers, or the taste of a warm empanada. His appreciation for music filled the room with rhythm, laughter, and love. Nothing brought him more joy than dancing with his grandchildren. His home was always open, and no one left without a meal and a full heart.

For 83 years, David lived a long and meaningful life, guided by a deep desire to instill the values of love and compassion.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa and his seven children, David (Cristina), Cristal, Dulce (Chris), Celeste (Olivier), Diego (Trang), Mirasol, Estrella (Zack); and his nine grandchildren, Emelina, Diego, Romeo, Austin, Harmony, Lola, Wolfe, Elize, and Liv.

He is survived by his siblings; Pedro, Blanca, Dora, Maria Elena, Alicia, Robert, and Gina. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ventura and Aniseta Garcia; and his siblings Francisco, Eustorgia, Eugenio, and Maria Cristina.
