David James Tajchman, Sr, 82, of Robstown, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3rd, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 2, 1943, in Paris, Texas, to Emerick and Angelina Nesrsta Tajchman.
David served in the Marine Corps and was known for his wit and service to his community. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Katolická Jednotá Texaská (KJT), American Legion, and was active in all organizations. He was a faithful Catholic, serving his parish of St. Thomas the Apostle since its founding in 1980 in various capacities. David was a devoted husband and father, known lovingly as Grandad to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Always armed with a smile and a joke, David left behind a legacy of beautiful memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
David is survived by his wife, Susie Nemec Tajchman, his children Suzette Gimbel (Fred Gimbel), Sharla Tajchman (Brian Dee), and Eric Tajchman (Hali Browning), grandchildren Katie Rodgers (Daniel Rodgers), Emily Gimbel (Isaiah Longboy), Sara Gimbel, Zachary Dee, Lily Grace Dee, and Jameson Dee, great-grandchildren Abigail, Erin, Halie, and Skyler Rodgers, and his siblings, Robert Tajchman (Nora Oncken), Julie Prejean (Harold Prejean), Frances Hicks (Gary Hicks), and Dan Tajchman, as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, David Tajchman, Jr., and nephew Rick Prejean.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 10th, at 5 pm, at Sawyer George Funeral Home, followed by a rosary at 7 pm. A Catholic Mass to celebrate David's life will be held on Saturday, October 11th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Robstown, Texas, with burial services to follow at Robstown Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
David’s journey on this earth was one marked by love, service, and unwavering faith in God. His passing left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
