Delores Elizabeth Laubenstein Jones

Delores, 91, of Robstown, Texas, went to be with her Lord on 08/14/2025.

She was the first born to John and Lillie Laubenstein on March 29, 1934, in Driscoll, Texas, where she grew up and her parents owned Driscoll Blacksmith and Hardware for 42 years. At an early age, she was given the nickname “Pat” and was called that by those from her hometown all of her life. She had two siblings, a brother, Henry Franklin, who died at 23 months and her “little” sister, Virginia, born when Delores was 8 years old. Delores attended elementary and junior high school there in Driscoll, and, during high school, was bused to Robstown High School, where she graduated in 1952. She married the love of her life, James Jones, on March 21, 1953, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Robstown, Texas, just 8 days before her 19th birthday. While they were engaged and he was stationed in Germany, she worked at the Nueces County Public Library in Robstown, and drove the bookmobile to area schools. They moved to the family farm in Robstown, about 1960 and raised their children there. She helped James in their business, Jones Refrigeration, for many years. They were also members of the Coastal Bend Land Sailors. They were married 2 months shy of 51 years, at the time of James' death.

Her passions in life were caring for her husband and family, and spoiling her grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Granny". She loved to cook and made every birthday and holiday special. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed every minute spent with them. She gave of herself freely and was sensitive to their every need. She blessed us, her family, in ways too numerous to mention and will be forever missed!!

She loved her Lord and served Him in many capacities including being a deacon's wife, the benevolence committee, offering committee and as secretary of her J.O.Y. Sunday School class at her church, Calallen Baptist, where she was a faithful member for over 65 years. It was here that she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior on her 25th birthday on March 29, 1959 and was baptized on her mother-in-laws birthday, April 5, 1959. Her church friends, who became family, were very dear to her. She had a ministry of sending birthday cards and encouraging notes to friends and family for many years. She will always be remembered for her sweet attitude and big smile through the challenges of her latter years.

Delores is preceded in death by her brother, Henry Franklin Laubenstein, her parents, John and Lillie Laubenstein, her husband, James Jones, her in-laws, Barney and Pearl Jones, and her daughter-in-law, Becky Jones.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cindy Douglass and her husband, David of Portland, her son, Jimmy Jones, of Robstown, her grandchildren, Kimberly Storey and her husband, Jonathan, Ryan Douglass and his wife, Theresa, and Clint Foster and his wife, Alison, all of Corpus Christi, nine great-grandchildren, Parker Storey, Miles, Ciela, Noah, Jones and Pearl Douglass, Taylor Foster, Tabitha Foster, and Alec Foster and his wife, Laurelin,  also, her sister, Virginia Young of Corpus Christi, nieces and nephews, who lovingly called her "Auntie Pat" and a host of devoted friends. We are very thankful for the staff of Windsor Calallen, who took great care of her and her caretaker for several years, Carla Trevino, who added joy to her life.

We, her family, rejoice in knowing that Heaven is her home, and we will on day see her again, according to John 11:25-26. " I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"

Visitation will be one hour before services at Calallen Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 10am, Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Calallen Baptist Church with Pastor Anthony Aquino officiating. Burial will follow at Robstown Cemetery.
