It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Edwin Dickinson, who passed away on Saturday June 20th, 2026, at the age of 78. In his home with his daughter and son-in-law by his side.

Donald was born on August 29, 1947, in Beeville, Texas. Almost everyone that knew him called him Popo

He lived a life marked by love, dedication, and kindness above all he always enjoyed life. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and great grandfather who cherished time spent with his family and watching his grandchildren grow. He was dedicated to his loving wife Carole Lea Dickinson for 59 years they would have celebrated their 60-year anniversary if the Lord did not call her home March 4, 2024. Donald loved the Lord and he loved praying and sharing the word. He was the one that if you needed a should or just someone to pray for you, he was the one. All you had to do was ask and he would pray daily for you or stop and pray right then and there. He had more faith than most could only wish for. My Daddy told me many times he was not afraid of leaving this world he knew where he was going and was excited to spend eternity with Jesus and my mother.

Throughout his life, Donald worked as a Fireman for many years then he worked for Baroid as a mud engineer, He also worked for Bob Herbert Supply Company in Alice Texas. Donald was known for his strong work ethic, generosity, and commitment to those around him. No matter what job he was doing he would do the best he could and always seemed to shine through. Donald never met a stranger & everyone he met always loved him. He enjoyed several hobbies but the one thing you could get him to talk about for hours was his softball adventures. He played softball for as long as I can remember and was damn good at it. (he played 1st base & was always # 12) He traveled all over including several different states, playing in several different leagues and even went to Las Vegas to play in the world Series for the SRs which they won. He even got MVP. He touched many lives through his compassion and wisdom and laughter he loved to share his knowledge and loved teaching all the younger ones about all the good old stuff. He also loved to water ski and even had my mom water skiing even though she could not swim. Some of the best times in his life was when he would go fishing with his grandson Nathan – they made so many memories I would not have enough room to start to tell.

He is survived by his child Cindy Lea Floyd and her husband Roger W. Floyd.

One thing that always sticks in my mind is if you were to ask any of his kiddos something about PoPo…they would say Our Popo could fix anything. Popo will be remembered for his love, laughter, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who knew him. His memory will live in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
