Early morning on September 10, 2025 as the sun rose over the bay, Doris Krause Scholz left behind her hospital bed, machines, tubes and illness to rest in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was 94 years old.
Doris was born on April 14, 1931 to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Krause and spent her childhood in the Leona Community. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and continued in the church all her life. She graduated from Banquette High School as valedictorian of her class. She married and raised two children; Doris was an awesome, loving mom. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed trying new recipes. Her three layer German Chocolate cake was a masterpiece. She tended her flower beds and grew many beautiful plants and flowers.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughter, Darlette Brandon and Roxey Scholz; one sister Joyce Davidson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Scholz; her parents Mr. and Mrs. Fred Krause; her in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. William Scholz; her son-in-law, Frank Brandon.
We are deeply grateful to the six pallbearers from the St. John Lutheran Church congregation who have so kindly agreed to assist: Jon Duplantis, Howard Fels, David Marion, Steve Miller, Butch Roecker, and Don Thigpen. Their support is a touching reflection of the caring community that surrounds us during this time.
Services are Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 2:30 pm at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. The pastor officiating the service will be Jonathan Lys. Burial to follow at Hermann and Sons Cemetery in Orange Grove, TX.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to St. John Lutheran Church, Robstown Texas in care of Doris Scholz.
Dear Mom (A note from Darlette and Roxey),
My first thoughts of God,
came to my childish mind,
through songs you sang to me,
so long ago in time.
My first desire to meet,
my Father God above,
was inspired by your life,
of gladness mixed with love.
My first attempt to trust,
my Lord and Savior Christ,
was due to wells of joy
I saw spring from your life.
Had it not been for you,
Mother I often say,
I may have missed the life
and never found the way.
