Dorothy Lee Montgomery

Dorothy Lee Montgomery was born on May 10, 1929, and passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, hard work, and devotion to her family.

Dorothy was one of two daughters born to Rube B. and Nannie Mae Kidd. She lived a long and full life and was the beloved matriarch of her family. She possessed a remarkable tenacity, grit, and strength-qualities she carried throughout her life and passed down to the generations who followed her. Dorothy loved deeply and was deeply loved in return.

She often spoke with pride about the many chapters of her life. She fondly remembered driving a tractor in the watermelon fields she and her husband worked together, as well as working alongside him at their restaurant, the Double "D" Cafe in George West. She also spent many years driving a school bus for George West Independent School District. Dorothy worked for more than 25 years at Super S Foods before retiring. She was equally proud of her years as a secretary, working in both the oilfield and a local doctor's office.

Dorothy was a longtime member of George West United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her faith, dedication to her family, and willingness to work hard were enduring examples to those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rube B. and Nonnie Mae Kidd; her beloved husband, Charles "Chuck" Montgomery; her sister, Mary Jo Pierce; her son-in-law, Edward Mead Upton Jr.; and her great-great-grandson, Knox Longoria.

Dorothy leaves behind her three children, Shelley Williams (Morris}, Linda Upton, and Mark Montgomery (Kimberley}; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind countless cherished memories that will continue to live on through the family and friends who were blessed to know her.

Dorothy's life was a testament to perseverance, love, and family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who loved her.

Graveside services will be held at George West Cemetery on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.
