Eugene Helpert

Eugene Alfred Helpert passed away on January 13, 2020. He was born on December 29, 1934 in Robstown, Texas. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Eugene is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Mary Truesdale Helpert; five daughters, Diane Miller, Michele Helpert, Laura Geiser (Allen), Jeanine Abdo (Solomon III) and Mary Beth Horne (Bayne); seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Cave (Howard). He was a farmer in Nueces County for over 60 years and worked at Robstown Hardware Company for 22 years. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. with the rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Violet, Texas. Burial will be in the Robstown Memorial Park. Gene loved gardening and made sure no one left his house hungry. In lieu of flowers, you may kindly donate to the Corpus Christi Food Bank. Pallbearers will be his brothers-in-law, Mark Truesdale and Gregg Truesdale, his grandsons, Travis Geiser, Tanner Geiser, Aaron Geiser, Solomon Abdo IV, his sons-in-law, Solomon Abdo III and Bayne Horne. Honorary pallbearers are Allen Geiser, Kenneth Emshoff, Billy Joe Ordner and Howard Cave.
