Florene “Tootie” Jauer, age 96, of Robstown, Texas, passed away on April 24, 2026. She spent her final moments at home, embraced by the love of family and friends who cherished her deeply.
Tootie was born on November 25, 1929, in Robstown, Texas. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde Jauer, as well as her parents, Bill & Vera Worden; her beloved daughter, Kathy; and her siblings Doyle Worden, Kenneth Worden, Lorene Paul & Betty McCain. She leaves behind a family who adored her and will carry her memory forward with love. Her son, Rick Jauer (Susan) of George West, and her three grandsons—who truly were the light of her life—Brad Jauer (Valerie), Kelby Jauer (Sara), and Heath Jauer (Arianne). And nothing made her prouder than her seven great-grandchildren: Logan, Kennedy, Toby, Kylie, Kinsler, Paisley, and Blakeley. They were her joy, her pride, and the continuation of a life so well and fully lived.
She was raised on a dairy farm, and she loved telling stories about every bit of it—the early mornings, the hard work, and all the little details that made that life what it was. As a little girl, she enjoyed working with the dairy cows, riding her horse, and spending time with her family. She later graduated from Calallen High School & at 18 years old, she married the love of her life, Clyde David Jauer.
Together, the two of them built a life rooted in ranching & family. She deeply loved her two children, Rick and Kathy, and carried that love with her always—even through the heartbreak of losing Kathy far too soon. She loved being out on the ranch with Clyde—driving the tractor, bailing hay, & riding along as they checked on their cattle, always the one hopping out to open the gates. And true to who she was, she kept right on raising cattle in the pasture by her home well into her 90s!
Tootie was a homemaker, but also enjoyed working from home as a beautician. She had a knack for making people feel their best—she was always ready to give a haircut or style to anyone in the family, even her great-grandkids. She also spent time volunteering alongside her sister, Betty, with the Nueces County Livestock Show Swine Committee. She cherished her time with her sister, sitting on the patio drinking coffee or “cappa” as they called it, while watching the world go by.
Tootie graciously hosted family holidays in her home, and she’ll always be remembered for the incredible meals she lovingly prepared. Her homemade tortillas, rolls, peach cobbler, and fried pies were family favorites—and somehow always tasted even better when she made them.
She was a devoted wife of 72 years, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother & great-grandmother. She never passed up a chance to head out to the family ranch—riding around, taking in the South Texas landscape, and enjoying that time with the people she loved most.
Tootie will be surrounded by family and friends to celebrate her life on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. The 10:00 am service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Robstown, Texas and the graveside service at Memorial Park will follow for those who would like to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Tootie’s memory to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
