Gary Willis

Gary Willis, 75, passed away at his home on July 16, 2018. Gary was born in Artesia, New Mexico on November 3, 1942 to Murray and Wyoneta Willis. Gary started work in the oil fields after his baseball career ended, where he worked his way up to crude oil marketing, VP of marketing, and then retired as a crude oil trader in 2010. He was an avid golfer who taught golf lessons because he loved the game. He also enjoyed building race cars. Gary married the love of his life, Mary, on April 7, 1965. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family in the backyard while watching the grandchildren play and listening to a variety of music. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary; children, Viki Portales (Noe) and Shawn Willis (Bernice); brother, Bill Willis (Jane); brother-in-law, Gary Tipton (Suzan); and his seven grandchildren, Taleigh, Colter, Amily, Ainsley and Kinler Portales and Addison and Ryane Willis). Funeral Services will be held at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. A reception will follow at Calallen Baptist Church.
