George Simpson III, 82, of Portland, Texas, passed away on July 6, 2026

George was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on September 9, 1943, to George Simpson II and Kathleen McCord Simpson. He graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1962.

 He spent his life devoted to public service. In 1966, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served in the nuclear submarine program. He also served as a lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol. He was an active member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, joining in July 2001. Throughout his years of service, George exemplified commitment, integrity, and a deep sense of duty to his country and community.

 Above all, George treasured time spent with his family and friends.

 George was preceded in death by his father, George Simpson II; his mother, Kathleen McCord Simpson; his brother, Robert Simpson; and his daughter, Laura Simpson.

 He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Simpson; his children, Jennifer (Robert) Orr and George (Tracy) Simpson IV; his grandchildren, Andrew Orr, Stephen Orr, Kimberly Orr, Luke Simpson, and Mason Simpson; his siblings, Mary Ruth McCleskey, Peggy Sue Hudson, William “Bill” Simpson, Karen Sorrell-Herndon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
