Gerald "Garry" Roseberg

April 7, 1940 — January 7, 2023

Corpus Christi

Gerald "Garry"  Lee Roseberg was born on April 7, 1940 in McPherson, Kansas to Leonard and Lucille Roseberg. He passed away on January 7, 2023. He was 82 years of age.

Garry is preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws – Alvin and Doris Scott.

He is survived by wife, Judy Roseberg; daughters and sons-in-law, Karla  Harris (Charlie), Kristi Skrobarczyk (Joe); grandchildren: Eddie Joe Anthony (Reena), Ryan Skrobarczyk (Kaili), Gabe Skrobarczyk, Dee Skrobarczyk; great-grandchildren: Emma Anthony, Sadie Anthony, Connor Skrobarczyk, and Maggie Skrobarczyk.

Garry was an only child, and his parents were farmers. Until married he lived in a farmhouse that did not have electricity until 1950, all water used was pumped from the windmill, they bathed in a washtub, and only ever had an outdoor privy. He attended a one-room schoolhouse from first grade to eighth grade. He grew up in the country as a member of the New Gottland Lutheran Church, sang in the choir, and still has many lifelong friends from that time. It was at McPherson “city” high school that he met Judy. They started dating in 1956 and married in 1961 and eventually had their two daughters. They lived in McPherson for the first five years of their married life and then transferred to Greenville MS for Garry’s cast iron welding job. After four years, they moved to Corpus Christi where Garry would work at Coastal States Refinery, then Valero as a Shift Supervisor. He loved refinery work and retired after 36 years.

Even before retiring in 2006, Garry began mowing lawns as a side job, which he was still doing up until a week before he went into the hospital in December of 2022. We would say mowing “ran in his blood” as his parents mowed lawns in their retirement years.

Although inactive, Garry was a member of the Masonic Lodge #189 in Corpus Christi and was a 32nd degree Mason.

Garry and Judy have been members of Calallen Baptist for many years. He was a Deacon and served on the Building and Grounds committee, volunteered whenever needed and served his deacon families. For many years he maintained the lawn at the church. Garry enjoyed singing in the choir also. He faithfully attended Sunday School and men’s bible study and continued to grow in his faith, knowledge and love of the Lord.

Garry loved his family, and he took great pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed!

The family would like to thank everyone who has prayed for him and the family during this very difficult time.
