Gladdean Craft Wilson, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 15, 2022 at home in Brazoria, TX.
Dean was born at home in Swenson, Texas on April 16, 1933 to Joe Craft, Jr. and Willie Pinson Craft. Dean grew up in the Brazos Valley and graduated from Aspermont High School in 1951. She enjoyed playing on the high school basketball team and continued to play basketball with all of her grandkids as they grew up. She moved to Corpus Christi around 1955 and made Corpus Christi her home, with the exception of five years in Weslaco, TX and six years in Salado, TX. She worked until age 76 in the field of insurance - marine, auto and home. She was very active in horse events and shared this passion with her kids in the Rodeo circuit for many years. She had a beautiful spirit and was loved deeply by her family and friends.
Dean leaves a legacy of strong Christian faith that has been passed down to her children and grandchildren. She lived a full and meaningful life. Dean was always at the center of her family and friends and was known for being the sweetest person ever who always had a smile on her face.
Dean is survived by her loving family: children – James McDaniel of Corpus Christi, TX and Debbie Markwardt of Brazoria, TX; grandchildren – J.D. Green (Stephanie) of Danbury; Justin Green (Lori) of Lake Jackson; Jenni Murphy of Brazoria; David Duffey of Angleton; Deana Pace (Dustin) of Angleton. Dean leaves a legacy of love to 23 great-grandchildren - Kourtlyn, Katie, John David, Vivianna, Kendall, Kaysie, Kalvin, Landon, Maysie, Jake, Micah, Eli, Sarah, Hailey, Alexis, Aidan, Addison, Samantha, Sidda, Tripp, DJ, Troy, and Conner; and 1 great-great grandchild - Luke.
Dean is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins of whom she loved dearly and enjoyed having a close relationship with them.
Dean is preceded in death by her husband - Ed Wilson; daughter - Janet Morrow, grandson - Jason McBroom, and granddaughter - Katie McDaniel. She is also predeceased by her parents; three brothers, JQ, Bobby, and Marvin Craft and two sisters, Marie Swanson and Betty Galloway.
Dean was blessed by her Sunday School friends and church family at River Hills Baptist Church and neighbors where she lived. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 3:00 pm at River Hills Baptist Church, 16318 FM624, Robstown, TX 78380. Tony Seale and Matt Williams will officiate.
Dean will be buried at the Brazos Valley Cemetery on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 in Aspermont, TX.
