Hattie Lena Martin was promoted to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 5,2023, at the age of 87.
Hattie was born on July 31, 1936 in Weimar, Texas, to August and Lena Brunks. She was raised in Calallen and attended Central Baptist Church in Robstown where she met her future husband, Amos Martin. They were married on December 13, 1955, and enjoyed over 65 years together until his death on June 29, 2021.
Hattie lived her life devoted to her family and raised her children instilling in them her strong Christian faith and values. Hattie was a homemaker who loved to cook for her family and friends. She always got requests to cook from her grandchildren and they would show up with friends in tow. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and would never miss a game.
She was preceded in death by her husband, grandson Zach Ellison, her mother and father, two brothers, Mott and Otto Brunks, and one sister, Lilli Lanfair.
She is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Escobedo and Linda Lozano, and one son, Larry (LaRae) Martin. Also surviving her are her six grandchildren, Nikki Escobedo, Megan Boyd, Lauren Moodie, Zalen Ellison, Lason Martin and Luke Martin, along with 10 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cade, and Hattie Boyd, Parker and Hunter Moodie, Brody and Asher Ellison, and Maci, Mox and Molli Martin.
Visitation and funeral service will be at Sawyer-George Funeral Home on Saturday, November 11, 2023, visitation at 1:00 p.m. and the funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Robstown Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Zalen Ellison, Lason Martin, Luke Martin, and Josh Boyd; nephew Jack Lanfair and life-long friend, Jimmy Lambert. Honorary pallbearers are nephews Elvin Brunks and Tommy Brunks.
Special thanks to Aurora "Mona" Padilla and Gracie Arredondo who loved and cared for our mother as their own. Thanks also to Laycee Vonheauvel, Debbie Puledo and all the caregivers from C. C. Hospice who attended to all our mother's needs.
