Ismael "Moe" Vera, a beloved figure and cherished friend, departed this life on January 19, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on November 29, 1953, in Charco, Texas, he lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and an unwavering spirit that touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ismael dedicated many years of his life to a career at CCAD, where he worked from March 2004 until July 2019, specializing in aircraft engine repair. His craftsmanship and professionalism were paralleled only by his gentle demeanor, as he greeted everyone with a warm smile, no matter the day's challenges. A proud graduate of Goliad High School, Ismael was deeply committed to his community, and his legacy of service extended beyond the workplace.
In service to his country, Ismael entered the Army Reserve on May 30, 1975, and served with honor as a member of the 288th Quartermaster Company. He was deployed to Operation Desert Storm from December 23, 1990, to May 29, 1991, demonstrating exceptional bravery and commitment during his time of service. He was Sgt First Class at time of retirement.
Moe's passion for sports was well-known; he was a loyal supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Astros. His enthusiasm for these teams was only rivaled by the love he felt for his four fur babies, who brought him endless joy. A man of great heart and generosity, Moe was proud to be the Godfather to 50 children, offering guidance and love to each of them.
He is survived by his loving sister Noemi Ochoa, sister Becky Castro, and brother Adan Vera, along with countless nieces and nephews who will carry forward his spirit of kindness.
Ismael was predeceased by his beloved wife, Darcelia Vera, as well as his parents, Luis and Dolores Vera, and sisters Romana Castro and Marcy Vargas.
