Jack Lee Stubblefield lived his life with energy, laughter, and a constant supply of music and books. He was a kind, funny, intelligent brother, father, teacher, friend and husband. Unfortunately, he was unable to overcome his health issues and went to spread his joy in heaven on May 4, 2024. He leaves behind his child, Taylor Stubblefield; his wife, K. Dawn Stubblefield; brother, John C. Stubblefield (Nancy); nephew, Collin Stubblefield -and countless students, friends, and fellow teachers to carry on his legacy.
Jack was born in Refugio, TX, but spent most of his life in Corpus Christi, TX. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas State University and his Master’s from Texas A&M -Corpus Christi. He was proud to have taught in the Communication Department at Texas A&M -Corpus Christi before spending 10 years at Sinton High School, where he taught Speech and coached the Debate team to several District and State awards. He has been a part of the Speech Department at Del Mar College since 2013 and was awarded tenure in 2022.
As a teacher, Jack felt it was his job to allow students to learn about life and how to become better speakers -all with a massive dose of humor, heavy metal music, Dallas Cowboy paraphernalia, and pop culture references.
Students from all over have shared how his class was filled with laughter and stories about life. Jack would spend hours listening and supporting students of all ages as they navigated through his classes.
His family is saddened by the sudden loss of a man who lived life with enthusiasm and humor.
Jack will be laid to rest along side his mother and father in Wharton, TX on May 9, 2024. A Celebration of Life is pending. Heavy Metal Shirts and Dallas Cowboy colors will be required. His family asks that everyone listen to music, read books, and cheer on the Dallas Cowboys to honor Jack’s memory.
