James "Jim" McCain, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 24, 2024. Jim was born August 6, 1935 in Banquete, Texas. Jim was an active volunteer with the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show and Sale for his entire adult life. He enjoyed working with the youth of Nueces County. He was also involved for several years with the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo. Jim worked as a registered, certified electrician. Over the years he was employed by several of the petroleum and chemical plants in the Corpus Christi area. In his younger years his hobbies included scuba diving and participating in historical cooking demonstrations of the chuck wagon pioneer days. He traveled twice to Cheyenne, Wyoming for Frontier Days. Jim was an accomplished woodworker, who also taught his grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Worden McCain; son, Chad (Carol) McCain; daughter, Jenna McCain Weikel; one granddaughter, Jessica (Ryan) Ellis; grandsons, Shane Weikel, Zachary (Emily) Weikel, Ryan (Natalie) McCain as well as 7 great grandchildren, and bonus son, Jimmy ( Maria) Campbell.
Betty has requested in lieu of flowers please consider small plants for her to remember your kindness during this time of loss. Contributions made to missions outreach of Annaville Baptist Church in Jim's honor are welcomed.
The Memorial Service will be Friday September 6, 2024 at 10:00 am at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert Simmons officiating.
