James Earl Neugent

James Earl Neugent 71, of Corpus Christi, Texas, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023. James was born, May 25 in Lamesa, Texas, The son of Earl Dean Neugent and Myrlene Jeffcoat Yarborough.

He graduated from Axtell High School in 1971 and joined the Army where he learned and excelled in aviation electronics. He was extremely proud of his military service both active duty and in the reserves. He worked at CCAD where he was a hanger chief for helicopter flight testing.

James was preceded in death by his beloved parents Earl Neugent and Myrlene Yarborough, grandparent John and Matilda Neugent and Melvin and Mary Jeffcoat, and uncles, J.D. Neugent, Clifton Neugent and Dwain Jeffcoat.

James leaves behind a family he loved unconditionally. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley; his daughter Amanda Neugent; sons, Melvin and Edith Neugent, Jonathan and Katie Garrett,  Darren Neugent and John Neugent; grandchildren, Finnis, Savannah and Tyler Neugent and Kinzlee and Zachary Garrett.

James was a man of many talents and excelled at most everything he attempted from painting the school mascot on the announcer’s booth in high school to photography, woodworking, antique clock repair and synchronizing music to an extensive Christmas light display. 

He was most proud of his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments and went above and beyond to support them in their individual interest.  Daddy and grandpa was alway there to cheer them on and have their backs. He will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8pm on September 21, 2023 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Graveside service is scheduled for Monday, September 25, 2023 at 2pm at Brazos Point Cemetery in Bosque County.
