Julia Dawn George Franklin, born on December 7, 1956, in the vibrant town of Harlingen, Texas, left this world too soon on May 6, 2025, after a sudden illness. A luminous presence in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her, Julia embodied the roles of Mom, Nana, Boss, and friend with an unparalleled zest for life. Each moment was for her; she smiled brightly, laughed freely, and filled her heart with love that was both boundless and infectious.
Julia's life was a rich tapestry woven from the love of her amazing children—Jefferson, Joshua (Melanie), Roger "Red" (Jennifer), Bobby Jr., Mark (Vicki), Jody, and Melissa—each thread representing the unique relationship she cherished with them. Her legacy shines brightly through her 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who carry forth the warmth she instilled in them. Julia found joy in every facet of her family, nurturing and encouraging each member with support.
In addition to her devoted family, Julia had a network of “Bestie Friends” who orbited around her like stars illuminating her path. Sandy Benavides, Lorraine Cook, Cheryl Phelps, Leesa Fyffe, Nanette Garza, and her ever-reliable partner in crime, Rob Loessin, were steadfast companions whose laughter and love enriched her life. Together, they lived, laughed, and embraced the moments that made life sweet.
Though Julia joins the ranks of angels alongside beloved family members who preceded her—including her father Doye Bush, her mother Charline Bush, her twin sister Jennifer Glasgow, her daughter Ronni Jean Vasquez, and her husbands B.L. "Red" George, Bruce W. Franklin, and Jody Champion—she leaves behind a legacy woven with the profound understanding of love’s importance. Her parting wisdom to all who remain is simple yet profound: “Love, Live, Laugh, hold yours tight. Say ‘I Love You’ all the time, every chance you get. And last but never least keep Jesus first.”
As we remember Julia, we celebrate a life lived fully, deeply, and unapologetically. Her spirit and teachings will continue to light the way for her family and friends, nurturing their hearts and reminding them of the beautiful connections that make this world remarkable. She will be dearly missed but forever honored in the laughter and love she gifted to all.
