Karl Bernard Hoelscher, Jr.

Karl Hoelscher, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed on peacefully on July 12, 2026, at the age of ninety-one. He was born on March 17, 1935, in Violet, Texas. Karl was the son of Alma and Karl Hoelscher Sr. His life was a testament to his faith, family, and community.

Karl spent the majority of his life in Violet, Texas. Growing up in Violet, he learned about hard work and the simple joys of life. Karl grew up alongside his nine brothers and sisters. They were a close-knit family devoted to their Catholic faith.

In a love story that spanned over six decades, Karl married the love of his life, Billie Marie Shore. They met on a baseball field. He was the starting pitcher, and she was the new girl from Missouri. Their union was one of love and commitment, lasting sixty-four beautiful years. Their partnership was blessed with three children: Shala (Julian) Bielawski, Joy Hoelscher, and Dan (Rebecca) Hoelscher, each of whom carries forward his legacy.

Karl's family was the cornerstone of his life, and he took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to his four grandchildren: Nathan Bielawski, Katherine (Jason) Bonifazi, Karl (Amanda) Hoelscher, John Hoelscher and his great grandson William Bonifazi. His warmth, wisdom, and gentle humor left an indelible mark on their hearts, and his stories and laughter will echo in their memories forever.

Karl was known for his unwavering work ethic and commitment. He believed in the power of hard work and honesty. He served honorably in the United States Army in Korea and was a lifetime member of the VFW. He served as a fireman for the City of Robstown and on the Board of Coastal Bend Gin. For the majority of his career, he farmed and ranched with his brother Jeron until the age of seventy-eight.

Karl is predeceased by his parents, Alma and Karl Hoelscher Sr., and his siblings, Gerald Hoelscher, Florine (Buddy) Dittlinger, Eileen (Norbert) Ladd, Farreol “Buck” Hoelscher, Jeron (Bette) Hoelscher and Edmund “Eddie” Hoelscher.

Karl is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandson. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings: Marian (Gerald) Unterbrink, Cyril (Kathy) Hoelscher, Norbert (Barbara) Hoelscher, and sisters-in-law, Rennie Hoelscher and Carolyn Hoelscher.
