Kay Frances Mauer, born April 4, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas, passed away on September 19, 2026. She lived a life rooted in devotion to family, steady work, and the simple joys that make a home warm and welcoming.

She was born to Almer D. “Jay” Dawson and Anita Conway, and she attended Eddison High School in San Antonio. Over the years, Kay built a working life marked by dedication and care, serving at the Del Mar College Bookstore and in physicians’ offices. In each role, she brought the same faithful spirit that shaped the rest of her life.

Kay will be remembered for the things she loved most: her family, her sorority, cooking, baking, and the special happiness she found in her grandchildren. These were not small interests, but the enduring threads of her life—ways she gathered people close, expressed her love, and created lasting memories. Whether through time spent together, a meal prepared with care, or the joy she took in family occasions, she leaves behind the imprint of a gracious and loving presence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Mauer.

Kay’s memory will be cherished by her children, Deborah Nugent, Dana Pease, Dawn Mauer, and David Mauer; by her grandchildren, Portia Adkins, Charles Adkins, and Sean Rush; and by her great-grandchildren, Seja Anderson and Roman Rush. She leaves behind a family who will carry her love forward and remember her with deep affection and gratitude.

A memorial service will be held on October 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Mirador Retirement Community, 5857 Timbergate Dr, Corpus Christi, Texas 78414.
