It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth “Ken” Brand Heeb Sr., age 66, of Robstown, Texas. Ken was born on June 9, 1959, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026, at home, surrounded by the love of his family.
Ken was the beloved husband of Sylvia Heeb, whom he married on August 19, 1989, and a proud and devoted father to Kenny, Jessie, Sonya, and Sarah. Of all the roles he carried in his life, none meant more to him than being a husband, father, and Papa. His love for his family was not only spoken, but lived out daily through his faith, his presence, his guidance, and the quiet, steady way he showed up for those he loved.
He graduated from Naperville North High School, Class of 1978, where he played football and basketball and sang bass in the school choir. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater in 1982, with a focus on Physical Education, Kinesiology, and the Physiology of Exercise. Ken carried his passion for teaching throughout his life. Whether in the classroom or through his work helping others regain their strength, he was, at his core, a lifelong teacher. He had a natural way of encouraging others, lifting them up, and helping them believe in their own strength.
Ken was a man of deep and abiding faith, which guided his life and shaped the way he loved others. He remained steadfast in that faith until the very end, even in his final days, continuing to share God’s love with every person who came to see him. His faith was not only something he believed, but something he lived, a steady light that continues on in all who knew him.
He was a gentle and intentional man who treasured time with his family. From an early age, he made it a priority to be present in the lives of his children, whether building Pinewood Derby cars, sharing his love of sports, or passing down the values that meant so much to him. He shared a special and lasting bond with each of his children, offering guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support.
His grandchildren adored their Papa, and he cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will stay with them for years to come. In his final days, even the simplest joys became meaningful, and his family lovingly made sure he was never far from his favorite sweets, especially ice cream, a small but familiar comfort that brought him joy and became a series of tender shared moments with his grandchildren and family that will always be remembered with love.
Ken was a lifelong sports fan, especially devoted to the Green Bay Packers. Some of his most treasured memories were made watching and talking about sports with his children, including a special trip to Lambeau Field with his sons and grandson, a moment he held close to his heart.
Above all else, Ken wanted to be remembered for the love he had for his wife, Sylvia, and for his family. That love was the foundation of his life and the legacy he leaves behind. Though he often said he would be around for a long, long time, those who knew him understood that he was right in the ways that matter most. His presence lives on in the lives he touched, the faith he shared, and the family he loved so deeply.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jeanette and Harry Heeb.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Heeb; his beloved sister, Patricia and her husband, Randy Hoff; his children, Sonya Tellez, Sarah Tellez, Kenneth “Kenny” Heeb Jr. and his wife, Katherine Heeb, and Jessie Heeb and his wife, Dulce Heeb; his grandchildren, Josh, Abel, Ayla, Avri, Jessie, and soon-to-be baby Jeanette; along with many extended family members and dear friends.
A service to honor and celebrate Ken’s life will be held on Sunday, April 26, at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Public viewing will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Ken will be laid to rest at Funeraria del Angel-Memorial Park, with burial at 1:30 p.m. A reception will follow at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.
