Louise Ruth Green

May 29, 1936 — July 19, 2025

Robstown

Louise Ruth Green, age 89, of Corpus Christi, TX (formerly of Forest, VA), a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, went to be with the Lord at 1:23 PM (CDT) on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in the home of her son, Ralph W. Green III. She was born on May 29, 1936, the fifth of thirteen children, in Pikeville, KY, to the late William and Anna (Barsuhn) Wegner, missionaries to the mountain folk of eastern Kentucky. Louise was the devoted helpmeet of Dr. Ralph W. Green II for 54 years, until his homegoing on October 9, 2014.

She is survived by her son, Ralph W. Green III, and daughter-in-law Cheryl Wychopen Green of Corpus Christi, TX—her loving caregivers for the final three years of her life—and her daughter, Rhonda Green Nicholes, and son-in-law Steve Nicholes of Jeju, South Korea. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Rachel Green Miller (Thomas); Ginny Green Deason (Stephen); Bethany Green Stallings (Andrew); Ralph W. Green IV (Kristen Harris Green); Garrett W. Green; Benjamin D. Nicholes; Anna R. Nicholes (Jacob Eggert); Daniel J. Nicholes; and Abigail L. Nicholes and 13 great-grandchildren: John Thomas, Cameron, Savannah, Charlotte and Jameson Miller; Landon, Ava and Skylar Deason; Callen, Sage and Shiloh Stallings; Ralph Wesley Green; and Emilia Eggert. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses: Lois Wegner Hanmer; Leah Wegner Willis (Lonnie); Sam (Ruth Anne); Paul (Doris); Raymond (Joyce); and Wilmar (Delores) Wegner; as well as by in-laws: Marie Norship; Karen and Barbara Wegner; and Jim Dotson (Nancy); and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Ralph W. Green II; great-grandchildren: Addison Lynn Deason and Quinn Sutton Miller; siblings: Chester, Ralph, Harold, and Marvin Wegner; Lillian Wegner Dotson and Sarah Wegner Eichstadt; and in-laws: Jean Michael; William R. Norship, and Robert Norship; William Hanmer; and Anita Wegner.

Louise served alongside her husband, Ralph, in pastoral ministry for 14 years, followed by 39 years with Word of Life Fellowship’s Local Church Ministries in Virginia. To help with their children’s education, she also worked as secretary at Richmond Christian School from 1976 to 1989. Louise was always by Ralph’s side—nurturing their children and grandchildren, teaching Sunday School, handling secretarial duties, and helping organize evangelistic youth events like sports marathons, all-nighters, and children’s meetings. After Ralph’s homegoing, Louise remained active in ministry as a devoted member of Heritage Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA, where she participated in Phoebe Care, Ladies’ Bible Study, and the GriefShare Ministry. Mom faithfully modeled the life of a Proverbs 31 woman for her husband, children, grandchildren, and many younger women who watched her life. She fully embraced God’s high calling of being a wife and mother. Her quiet wisdom, gained from a lifetime of Bible study and love for the Lord Jesus Christ, has inspired and encouraged her entire family and friends, and has edified the church of Jesus Christ. Her faith in Jesus is now sight, as she is home in His presence. While she will be deeply missed, our hearts are rich and full of joy knowing she is with the Lord.
