Lynda F. Whitton
September 18, 1942 — January 15, 2026
Lynda F. Whitton passed peacefully on January 15, 2026, at the age of 83. She lived a life rooted in service, creativity, curiosity, and deep love for her family and community.
Born on September 18, 1942, Lynda was the daughter of Rowena Belgard and Lynford “Billy” Feazel. She was a loving sibling to her sister Dianne Feazel Lashley and husband Lawrence Crawford Lashley Jr. and to her brother Larry Feazel and his wife Gay Feazel. She was a devoted mother to four children: Suzette Francine Whitton; Patricia Lynette Whitton-Morales and her husband Ed Morales; Brian Evan Whitton and his wife Elsa Moncivais-Whitton; and Charles Whitton and his wife Cecilia Whitton. Her legacy continues through her four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.
Lynda’s life included profound love and loss. She divorced John E. Whitton in 1990, was widowed by the passing of Thomas Henley in 2002, and later lost her beloved partner of sixteen years, Howard Adams, to COVID in 2022. Through every season of life, she carried herself with resilience, grace, and quiet strength.
One of Lynda’s proudest professional accomplishments was being hired to establish the first Career Center at the Corpus Christi Central Library. Her dedication and leadership led her from Business Librarian to Branch Manager, before retiring in 2011, leaving a lasting and meaningful impact on those she served.
Lynda had an extraordinary eye for beauty and possibility. She loved collecting fabric, seeing potential in every color, pattern, and texture. With a kind of quiet magic, she transformed those pieces into beautiful quilts—each one unique, intentional, and made with love. Quilting was not only her passion, but her way of giving comfort and care to others. Twenty-one years ago, she organized the Northwest Sewing Bee, fostering community and creativity. She generously donated countless quilts to The Ark, the Pregnancy Center, Driscoll Children’s Hospital, and many other organizations, offering warmth and compassion stitched into every seam.
Lynda also shared many joyful interests with Howard. Together, they collected stamps, appreciating the history and stories behind each one, and they loved baseball—especially attending local games, where simple moments became cherished memories.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her dialysis buddy for the kind, gentle, and compassionate care given to Lynda during her final months—a comfort that will never be forgotten.
Lynda will be remembered for her generous spirit, her creativity, her curiosity, and the warmth she wrapped around everyone she loved—much like the quilts she so lovingly made.
